Guys no need to press power button to awake phone and its free!!

Hi all,

Was finding pressing the power button to awake phone annoying as hell, so decided to do some research found this app from appbrain called no lock its free :lol: and seems to work great, i can press any key and walla phone comes back out of sleep!!.

Was working great, but just realised had my phoned plugged in, as soon as I unplugged it didn't work Damn, really thought I'd found something decent.

Hope were not stuck with pressing the power button all the time!

Sometimes the phone awakes if I press the back button.. But it only works sometimes, not all the time !!

I think that's when you have a msg/email, but not sure.

Ok I think I found something interesting, keep app on lock so you can still have your phone locked when the screen dims to black press and hold menu for a second, then release and press again walla unlock screen apprears.

Not perfect but better than nothing, give it a go lads.

back button also works on and off for me, strange app does work but must be buggy

no, but it doesn't seem to be working properly, although it does stop the phone from locking if thats any good

Doesn't work, well it does but only for about 10 seconds after I have locked the phone.

Home button works for me every time. Haven't made any changes that I know of that would affect the defaults. (Running MCRv3)

Edit - I am a liar. Power cable was attached! Seems the power button is gonna get knackered.

I am finding that some sort of combination of MENU->HOME and HOME->MENU and MENU->MENU seems to work sporadically....

Sometimes a quick MENU->HOME works. Other times I mash the keys around until suddenly the phone wakes up. There is something weird going on....

I haven't started using my SF properly yet but I'm sure I'll get as frustrated as you once I do! Coming from a Pulse where you can press menu twice to wake AND unlock it's going to be VERY annoying :)

LED notification makes up for it slightly :)

My findings are myLock pre-froyo final will allow menu and back button to unlock screen, but it disables slide lock.

nUnLock Pro will give you the slide lock back and Screen Off will give you one touch screen lock.

All are charged for but work.

The various responses on this thread have confused me.

Seems to me that there are two distinct aspects ---

1 - getting the thing to wake up (this is the bit that's normally done by pressing that unlit silver button ...) so that it can notice of what you do next

and

2 - after waking it up, persuading it to allow you to use it (which I understand to be "unlocking the screen") - which is normally done by sliding rightwards on the screen.

Do we actually have anything working that deals with Part 1? (Which is the subject of this thread!)

Seems there are plenty of options for altering the screenwipe part, but how about alternatives to the silver button?

I don't mind pressing the power button to make it wake, the way it's designed is this....

Pressing the power button will always wake it up, it's unlikely that the power button will accidently be activated in your pocket etc

If the back button (or any other keypad button) was to always wake the phone then it's more likely it would wake up accidently in your pocket etc.

If a notification has occurred then the back button lights up and pressing it will wake the phone, this makes it quick and easy to check if there is a notification, simply press the back button (or wait to see if it flashes) and no notification will leave it asleep

true but your battery would run down quicker whilst it's lighting up your pocket and not sleeping
