powering up phone, tons of apps open??

I power up the phone and jump in to Advanced Task Killer without doing anything and have 10 apps running (clock, cam, messages, email, voice search, weathe channel, swiftkey, google mail, gallery).

Is this normal or have a messed up somewhere?

That seems about right. I average 9 or 10 at any one time. Had 30 or so at one time which began to slow things down so used ATK to close them.
