Flashing Return, Menu and Home buttons

I have a Dell Streak evaluation unit which had Android 1.6 Build 3562 on it, but I have flashed this to an Android 2.1 Build 8105.

The upgrade was pretty easy, thanks for the guide :lol: , you guys deserve a pat on the back.

But ever since the upgrade the 'return', 'menu' and 'home' buttons only stay lit for 20-30 seconds before they blink a couple of times and then go off.

Is this a new feature, or is there something not quite right?

I'd prefer the way that it was originally where the buttons stayed lit the whole time the screen was on.

Is there any option that I could tweak to change the behavior back? (I have rooted the device, so system file editing is no problem)

Also, I really don't need the water bubble and "O2" logo upon startup (as I'm using the device in New Zealand B) ), is there a way I can change the startup image to a custom picture? However this is just as an aside.
