Guest jsplace Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 This app is taking up as much memory as Google Maps & I could live without it. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall it. Unless anyone knows any better? Use adb mate, I removed all the "rubbish" last night and it uninstalled fine. adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/*filename*[/codebox] Will do it.

Can you tell me the name of the file?
Guest flash2004 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Just delete the apk using root explorer. Quickest and the easiest way ...
Guest Confused Stu Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 You're looking to remove: glu_zte_blade_ghero5_de_en_es_fr_it_1_0_1_full-wrapped.apk glu_zte_blade_wwtbam5_de_en_es_fr_it_1_0_1_full-wrapped.apk for Guitar Hero and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire respectively. so the instructions in CMD (after you've used cd to get to the folder with ADB in it) are: adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/glu_zte_blade_ghero5_de_en_es_fr_it_1_0_1_full-wrapped.apk adb shell rm /system/app/glu_zte_blade_wwtbam5_de_en_es_fr_it_1_0_1_full-wrapped.apk Thanks jsplace, your instructions worked perfectly.
Guest synet Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) I think the file name begins with glu_zte_blade_ghero5_ Edited October 2, 2010 by synet
Guest jsplace Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 No Probs  Sorry I didn't include the filenames, as you can see they are rather convoluted and I couldn't remember them at the time!

I tick the app i want to uninstall. Select the Rubbish Bin. It then warns me that i'm about to delete the app. I say 'ok'. The menu then returns to the top (kinda like a reshuffle), but the app is still there!! wtf!!

Guest cmberry20 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) no not yet. I'm tempted to flash the ROM, but what do you gain from do this? (apart from getting rid of Orange's crap!!) Edited October 2, 2010 by cmberry20
Guest TheTwiddler Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 no not yet. I'm tempted to flash the ROM, but what do you gain from do this? (apart from getting rid of Orange's crap!!) I've used the File Explorer functionality in Super Manager to get rid of the GuitarHero5 and WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire apps from /system/app directory. Am I right in thinking that this won't remove any data associated with the app, such as preferences etc, as I notice that there are still directories named com.glu.android.ghero5 and com.glu.android.wwtbam5 in the /data/data directory. Is it wise or even safe to delete these directories also, and are there any other places where app specific data remains after the app itself is deleted?
