Hi, Any idea if i can use my Orange pay monthly sim with S/F without using/activating the £10 dolphin sim. Just hoping i can throw my own orange P/M sim in there and not worry faffin about with the activation process but am worried that Orange may throw a block on the phone/sim if they realise that the supplied dolphin sim isn't used....Does it matter that my own simcard is registered to my contract phone & number?

I know most are unlocking to use other networks (wish i could but am tied to contract  ) but just wondered if anyone is still using they'r original contract sims in the phone?

Cheers B)

Yup- my Orange contract SIM is running quite happily in my SF. I even told them in the shop that the PAYG SIM wouldn't be going in the phone, so she simply didn't even pop the SIM out of it's holder - there was no mention of needing to activate anything or whatever. Just plug in and play!

I had to register the payg sim I received before it would accept my pay monthly one (didn't buy in store, ordered over the phone).

Wonder if that's the difference then. I picked mine up in store rather than via post - wonder if they're sending them out "blocked" until they get a call that the right person has received it and then unblock the handset?

Anyone else received theirs by post/in store who could back this theory up?

I ordered off the net and chose to pick up in store. The sales assistant opened the package to check that it was the correct phone but didn`t open the actual box . Took it home, charged it up and put my wife`s orange contract sim straight in.It worked without registering activating the payg sim.

Thanks for replying guys. Mine is due to arrive on monday (ordered via telesales) I will give the pay monthly sim a whirl first if that doesnt work then its good to know that i can still use it after i activate the dolphin sim.

Makes sense tho that if you buy or pick up instore that you would bypass the self activation procedure. I imagine you would be activated there and then through the store system (would explain why they always seem to be frantically tapping away at those keyboards) Dont think it would be cool if they had to tell you that the new shiny phone we just sold you may not work for up to 24hrs

cheers again... much appreciated.
