HELP WITH SWAP!!!

hello

im trying to get swap to work on my pulse, but every time i just get a boot loop?

i am using FLB MOD 1.5 with a 8GB Class 6 micro sd, i go into ROM manager, click partition sd, EXT 512mb and SWAP as 64mb, then it reboots to recovery, then it says partitioning sd card.. when it reboots its just boot loops? :lol:

am doing something wrong? please someone help me!!

First, please do not open up two threads asking the same question. If you want to edit the title of your topic you can easily do this by hitting the "Edit" button on the first post.

I'm pretty sure that FLB 1.5 doesn't support SWAP. Try flashing FLB 1.7.

i flashed 1.7, then tried partitioning through rom manager again and it still boot looped?

FLB 1.5 does support swap, but only if you flash this kernel, so if you haven't already try flashing this. Or, you know, update to FLB 1.7, which includes it.

However, I kinda know the problem. FLB 1.5 with this kernel and swap partition bootlooped for me too, so I am using Swapper2 and a swap file. Haven't tried with FLB 1.7 yet, because...swap file works, why should I change it :lol:

Have you wiped everything before flashing the new ROM?

If you did you can just try to partition the SD card using the Amon-Ra recovery.

Have you wiped everything before flashing the new ROM?

If you did you can just try to partition the SD card using the Amon-Ra recovery.

yes i did complete factory wipe and dalvik cache and every wipe on there lol :lol:

would it work using Amon-Ra then?

I can't promise that it will work with the Amon-Ra recovery, but its worth a try I'd say.

Nope, Swapper2 creates a file on your sd card and uses that for swapping, no extra swap partition needed.

so if i flash the swap kernal it will work?

i just dont want to wipe my system to then re install apps and numbers

This sounds bad way - first partition then flash

i am going to try what Schwertfish suggested as it sounds like an easier way, but thankyou very much for the quick response and good advice!
