Guest tc4101 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Hi, I see people here use ACER UI, i just wondering why you guys prefer it over vanilla android or say launcher pro... i only used it for half a day, before ditching it and going to LP.... heres what i dont like 1. the notification near the botton, atually it not that bad, but rather than a drop down/pull up menu, i have to press to see the notification. and the notifications are hidden, so i have to press button to see the notification, which sort of defeats the purpose. notifications should be seen automatically not having the user press a button. 2. the lock screen widget is nice, but doesnt putting things like a media player, widgets etc defeat the purpoase of having a "LOCK" screen? i.e to prevent accidental hits? 3. the app drawer, sliding side to side is just way too slow. 4. overall the UI is very laggy i'm not sure maybe people here are optimizing it to work really good, maybe some of the things i have mentioned can be changed..... whats the deal? thanks

Agree, but Menu button is the way much faster to open. 4. Very agree. :)
Guest L0cu7us Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 the only thing stop me to use acerui or acerui+LP/ADW, is that notifications are not always visible but we need to push it to see, so my battery app and seepu and almost all app that use notification bar to show info are pretty useless...
Guest mgroover Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I think the Acer dialer has so many benefits compared to the stock dialer (mute button is not directly above end call button I was looking for before) anyone? Only thing I am missing in it is a button to connect/disconnect call to BT headset. The notifications area is something to get used to, once you are used to it.. Works like a charm and increases the overall workflow speed!

Guest L0cu7us Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 isn't possible to add/delete widget to acer lock screen is yes how ? (i mean using LP)
Guest Rajit Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 isn't possible to add/delete widget to acer lock screen is yes how ? (i mean using LP) When on the home screen (lp or adw or acer), long press the home key. The lock screen customization screen appears. There you can see all your lockscreens and the currently added lockscreen widgets. At the bottom-left corner of that screen is a + icon. Click on it to open the widget menu, which you can then use to add ANY widget to the lockscreen. The present widgets can be moved around or removed (by dragging them into the + icon). Hope that helps.
Guest knotts Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) I would like to use, but this annoying vibration when you pressing on a status bar.. Just can't stand it! Is there a possibility to disable this vibration? Edited October 5, 2010 by knotts
Guest Chewy11 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 for widgets there is a app that does the changing pasting, both ways have really cool grid to help with widget placement Am runing the acer ui with adw and its great, was on LCR-F and i miss the htc keyboad and a few tweaks. adw let's you put widgets on home screens(multiple) again but the notification- status bar is really the clincher for me, I love it and have learned very quickly to not hit it while typing space-bar

If you're a noob with adb, just type adb into your Command Prompt or Terminal and read all the possible commands. If you want to make your own HTC_IME Keyboard, you can visit the following site: http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/index.php Edited October 16, 2010 by Delnar_Ersike

If anything fails to install via adb, you should check to see what error it failed with. Most of the errors can speak for themselves; however, if you get the "Container Error" message, you have the same problem I have, and based on some basic debugging, I've deduced that it's Acer's fault. Another way this problem manifests itself is that when you try to install an app from the Market that updates an app on your SD Card or installs by default on your SD Card, the app fails to install with error code -18. The temporary solution is you have to unmount your SD Card, then install the app, then remount your SD Card. In case of the adb error, you have to install the apk from your SD Card via a file manager. Edited October 16, 2010 by Delnar_Ersike

Guest dennerjw Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Is there any way to install the Acer ui over lcr-f and use LP with it?
Guest Chewy11 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 We'd have to convince Malez to spend sometime trying to get it working...I would settle for the notification bar of Acer UI 4
Guest drach3nreiter Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 1. I like all the things you don't like. I love the clear notification bar like that, for me swipe up/down is annoying. I like the way it is... an android feel with a different flavor
Guest AcerFerrari Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I also used Acer UI before, and here is the thing I don't like: 1) Whenever I want to slide up, I always hit the notification bar, and THIS IS VERY ANNOYING!!! 2) The lock screen is rubbish!!! I put a Facebook widget, and I cant view the posts of my friend! 3) The app drawer is very ugly But here are the things I like: 1) Page-peeling styled lockscreen is fantastic! 2) I like the sliding panels Despite the things I like, I used the Acer UI for 4 hours and I simply can't stand it, I flashed back to the CM7 rom......T_T

Guest dontakeshit Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Btw, Does anyone know how to turn off the vibration when clicking the status bar. It is beyond annoying.
