Guest linkoo Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) I'm hearing a constant noise (low but audible) when making voicecalls. Is anyone else having this issue? The noise is also heard on the other end on the line. I'm running the custom r2 rom. Other than that, I'm very happy with my SF. Edited October 3, 2010 by linkoo
Guest fluxcapacitor Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Noone? Really?? I find call quality excellent. What network are you on? Try recording a voice memo or something and see if it's on the recording, could be a dodgy mic?

Guest linkoo Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I can see the meter (in sound-recording) hitting bottom even when not saying anything in a pretty quiet room. Just compared to my colleagues desire, it's stays all quite in the same room.

The san fran doesn't have noise cancelling technology which I think high end HTC devices have.

Guest linkoo Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) It's not the mic. Noise is present even when playing music, if I pause the music I can hear the noise for about 5 seconds and then it's totally quiet, you can hear something turning off. Reverted to stock rom, no difference. Edited October 4, 2010 by linkoo

Sadly it seems you have a weird issue with your phone :)
Guest oh!dougal Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 ... Reverted to stock rom, no difference. Sounds like the audio amplifier section of the hardware. Return.
Guest linkoo Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Since I'm the only one having this problem I probably should return it, too bad I'm in Sweden. Will have to read into Orange's return policy then...
Guest meinnit Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 My GF does complain that the volume is very low for her when I call her. This was also a fault with the Pulse which is why I bought the SF but it seems to suffer from the same problem :) It's fine when you speak loudly but sometimes you can't so it's just impossible to have a conversation with someone!
Guest linkoo Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Well my GF thinks I'm exaggerating, and according to swedroid's review of the SF they too hear a "high-frequency whirring" when making calls. So maybe it's not faulty hardware after all...
