I'm hearing a constant noise (low but audible) when making voicecalls. Is anyone else having this issue?

The noise is also heard on the other end on the line. I'm running the custom r2 rom.

Other than that, I'm very happy with my SF.

Noone? Really??

I find call quality excellent. What network are you on?

Try recording a voice memo or something and see if it's on the recording, could be a dodgy mic?

I'm on 3 Sweden. Yes it's probably the mic as I hear the same noise when recording a voice memo.

I can see the meter (in sound-recording) hitting bottom even when not saying anything in a pretty quiet room.

Just compared to my colleagues desire, it's stays all quite in the same room.

Same for me with the sound recorder. The quality of the recording it just like my Pulse or even other phones I've had. The san fran doesn't have noise cancelling technology which I think high end HTC devices have.

I see. Would you say the call quality is bad/ok/excellent?

Should add that I'm Pauls custom r2 rom.

It's not the mic. Noise is present even when playing music, if I pause the music I can hear the noise for about 5 seconds and then it's totally quiet, you can hear something turning off.

Reverted to stock rom, no difference.

Very weird. I just played music from the speaker and held it to my ear then stopped playback. Totally silent. Tried with headphones and same. Sadly it seems you have a weird issue with your phone :)

Sounds like the audio amplifier section of the hardware.

Return.

Since I'm the only one having this problem I probably should return it, too bad I'm in Sweden. Will have to read into Orange's return policy then...

My GF does complain that the volume is very low for her when I call her. This was also a fault with the Pulse which is why I bought the SF but it seems to suffer from the same problem :) It's fine when you speak loudly but sometimes you can't so it's just impossible to have a conversation with someone!

Well my GF thinks I'm exaggerating, and according to swedroid's review of the SF they too hear a "high-frequency whirring" when making calls.

So maybe it's not faulty hardware after all...
