Guest jazz5000 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Is there any way to get the desire to transmit audio over fm?
Guest psych0t1c Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I would think not without any hardware additions. None of the radio features are even close to the FM band. So you would need a gadget that plugs into the 3,5mm jack and handles the transmission.
Guest the-fallen Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Like psych0t1c already wrote, the Desire is not capable of transmitting FM signals. But I guess you want to use your Desire in your car? If so, there are plenty of possibilities (using external devices). - If your car audio has an AUX-in, you could use it - You can buy a FM-Transmitter (cheap ones costs about 20€, sometimes less). There are some to plug in to the cigarette ligher plug, others may be able to use a battery or power plug (so you can use it at home, too) - There are devices that simulate a CD changer. If your car supports a CD changer you could use one of those devices. They offer you plenty of possibilities. E.g. AUX-In (3.5mm Line In) or USB, i Think BlueTooth is possible, too. They are a bit expensive (50-200 €) depending on the features but you can get them really really cheap on ebay (look for "cd changer usb" or something)
Guest Karl_ Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Just before I got my Desire I asked the same question on Twitter and got a fast response direct from HTC that said "Yes, Desire does a FM Transmitter" (Link) - I was somewhat disappointed when I found out that was a lie. :-/
Guest the-fallen Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 The answer sounds a bit strange, maybe it is a translation error. Maybe he means that the Desire does have a FM Receiver ... Or maybe it REALLY has a transmitter but then, why there is no software to use it?!
