Guest xzyk Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Coming from the WinMo market I obviously am a big fan of hotmail (and gmail to a lesser extent) and was looking for a way to better use hotmail on my SF, which obviously being a google android derivative is not the preferred email app. Anyway, happened to come across this article http://tinyurl.com/36r6wd3 , tried it and it works great. It's been going for 2 days now with no hiccups and i have tested sending email from various account to it and it gets 'pushed' pretty quick. The direction on how to set it up are in the article but I can take screen grabs of my settings if anyone has any difficulty. Obviously for push to work properly you need to be permanently connected via GPRS, Edge etc... so it may not be of much use to those without a data plan, but then no other push client will be without a data plan. Hope it helps others like me who are having their first dip into the android market. :)
Guest David Horvath Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I'm against hotmail, i think its dangerous, but thanks for the tip. I did a small research and found out that gmail has a push function also: "Get your email the instant it arrives via push. Search for any email saved in your account." http://www.google.com/mobile/android/ Thanks though :)

It's now doing a lot more than my 'business' BB. Eagerly awaiting Paul to release his r3 image..

Guest puj Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I have set it up but it isn't syncing my emails. i can send email fine via Hotmail but not receive for some reason. I have another active sync account which is working fine so i don't know what is wrong.
Guest neologan Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 wouldn't mind seeing your settings mate, i'm having trouble setting it up
Guest Baadsha Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Not working for me either great find. works perfect for me. thanks.
Guest puj Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 I found out what was wrong whit my settings, in the incoming mail section for the username i only put the bit before the "@hotmail.com" not the whole email address, it needs the whole email address to work unlike in my other activesync account.
Guest Commadus Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Which email software are you using on the phone?
