debug.sf.hw setting

Maybe the Froyo update will help you when it does appear... unfortunately I don't think we can port just HTC's Exchange client to stock Android [easily].

hello all

just a quick modification for the new custom rom r3

"This have already been mentioned but it seems many people are still unaware that the lag that many of us have seen in the 2.1 builds is due to one line in the build.prop file!

The line by default is: debug.sf.hw=0 - it should be debug.sf.hw=1

This option controls the way the OS renders the UI! (hw=0) Uses the CPU to render the UI and (hw=1) Uses the GPU to render the UI! The original 1.6 builds for the Streak have this option to (1) and by some crazy reason the 2.1 builds (including Modaco's r2) have this to (0)! This is why you think that the Build is slow!

Change the line in build.prop (located in /system/ ) with "Root Explorer" (requires root) and restart! Now the UI will be smooth as silk!

Just an Edit! This is not my discovery! I have just made this thread to make this more visible!"

Yowza, that's pretty interesting, will try it out and implement it into MCR r3...!

Well that mod makes every thing REALLY buggy.

Edit: It breaks launcherpro but oh god scrolling is so smooth now.

Edit2: Random artifacts :S

Tried this mod and scrolling is a lot smoother, launcherpro also is still working for me?

Only problem I'm having is a slight bug with the display

Not sure why the screenshot is upside down :)

Ok, stuff have cleared up, but I still have the artifacts. Liveable, mind you.

Nice, just made the change and wiped the dalvik-cache before rebooting just in case any settings would be changed. System feels a lot smoother. No problems with Launcher Pro yet and no artifacts yet.

Edit: OK, I see the artifacts..

Hmmm, guess we know why they disabled it. How annoying!

It's also disabled in the 2.2 ROM. There must be a way to fix the bug though.

Yeah, investigating, tried the obvious and no dice yet...

Oooh, think I might have fixed it... :)

Oooh, exciting ;)

Any other nice features coming in mcr 3?

OK this is really quite embarrasing....

Is the standard wallpaper set still included in MCRr3?

The phone belongs to my GF who won't let me flash anything else until I can save her "Favourite Wallpaper" ..... LOL :)

For that matter, where is the standard wallpaper stored?

Cheers

I haven't changed the wallpapers... I do plan to switch the default from that nasty Orange one tho! ;)

They're in framework-res.apk too IIRC. :)

Hmm, had a look in the framework-res.apk and could only find the really nasty default-wallpaper.jpg

Will have another look, thanks ;)

hm Paul something keeps turning the wifi on and off... can't stop it...

just got a reboot too..

10-04 11:30:49.209: DEBUG/ConnectivityService(1232): Dropping ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/DISCONNECTED

seems like the constant connect/disconnect wifi caused the reboot.. weird.

Wifi going on and off here too, it also seems to automatically load apps like camera, messages etc in the background as task killer shows them all

Didn't notice that before?
