Guest estocks Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Hi It's early days, but are there any cradles for this phone yet that support charging and USB? I notice Brodit don't support any ZTE units at all :-( I don't want a universal cradle with a loose cable to plug in.. Cheers :)
Guest Winston69 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I would like to know about this also, any ideas?
Guest nick_sub Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I would like to know about this also, any ideas? I eventually found a great non-powered one for my Pulse which someone recommended. A bit gutted that I have to start the search again for the SF. Any suggestions on non-powered ones appreciated too...

Actually works great and I have great trust that It is up to holding my phone despite using a sticky technology. Some of the reviewers that say their phones have not held, but they can't be using it properly, as when I attach mine, its stuck solid. ITs rotatable to use in landscape or horizontal. I bought it as I didn't want a bulky generic universal one with those spring arm attachments that never seem to work well. Got it from here for £15.00 INC delivery Superetrader

Guest G0DSPEED Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I have great trust that It is up to holding my phone despite using a sticky technology. I thought I saw it posted by Paul that the back is made of teflon which is a favourite in non-stick frying pans :)
Guest nick_sub Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks shovon, I hadn't heard of that. It looks interesting, especially as I wouldn't have to buy another new mount if I keep my SF for as long as my pulse (3 months!) However, as mentioned above the SF has a Teflon-type coating and on Clingo's website it says that it may not work so well on "heavily textured" phones. If anyone can confirm that it's OK with the Pulse I might well get one though. I'm still not sure I understand how it works - is the pad slightly sticky to touch?

I liked the idea of having a mount that could move with me from phone to phone. Yes, there is a question mark as to whether the sticky mount would accomodate the San Fran's teflon type coating. Although, I am pretty sure I've read reviews for the clingo that people are using them with HTC's such as the Desire which I believe also has the same type of coating. The green part of the mount is hard to describe, it feels sticky , but this isn't because any glue type gum is used. The mount can't wear out or lose its stickiness and it leaves no residue on your phone when you detach it. All the makers suggest, is to clean it every now and again with water to remove dust build up and to preserve the stickiness. When you remove the phone, you have to 'peel' it off the mount. A question would arise of how the San Fran's loose back cover might cope with this i guess? Edited October 13, 2010 by shovon

I think the cover would be OK but the camera has a raised section near it so the back isn't completely flat - that might be more of a problem.
Guest rowanmoor Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Sorry for resurrecting an old thread. Has anyone tried the clingo with a SF? Does it work? Does it hold the phone OK with it's odd surface? Does it damage the phone/surface at all? Or did everyone go for a cheaper mount?
Guest XmichaelX Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) Mine fits in my e71 cradle that i made following these instructions: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=16992427 Apologies, you want an active cradle. Sorry. Edited November 16, 2010 by XmichaelX

There was another thread on a similar topic recently where someone reported that the Clingo doesn't work with the SF. I am intending on buying one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/iTALKonline-SUBLIM...D91433RWDRFA3QB The Omnia is almost the same size as the SF so I'm hoping it will fit. I had one of the same type for my old Pulse and it was an excellent quality item. Will let you know if I buy it and if it fits. Edit: Sorry that one isn't active either. I don't know of any active ones for the SF. The one I refered to above is the same as the one on the overclockers thread as it happens. Edited November 16, 2010 by nick_sub

I'm using this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.41529 Holds the phone perfectly. On topic: Haven't found any active car dock, or any ZTE Blade accessory yet for that matter.
Guest rowanmoor Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I suspect we won't see an active dock for a while - if at all given the price of the phone. I just want to find a decent car mount that doesn't take a lot of fiddling to get the phone in and out. I have been used to a magnetic one with my old phone, but don't want a bulky case with a magnet on the new SF. I have a closer look at that iTalkOnline one.
Guest pentaya Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Hey can some help me please.....I rooted my Orange Sanfransicio and by mistake i deleted Andriod Market App. Can you please tell me how t o do that...Or email me please [email protected]
Guest Rodelkoenig Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 ehm some months passed now^^ did anyone test the clingo thing with a zte blade/orange san francisco? does it stick good or not?

Guest veehexx Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 screw bodging it with an non-specific holder; brodit have 3 models available depending on your budget and requirements... http://www.brodit.com/ there's the 511235, 512235 and 513235.
Guest george24 Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 I think someone tried one and said it didn't stick. I have a clingo car mount and i can confirm it sticks extremely well to the blade when its in a silcone gel case wouldnt use it without the silcone case as the stickness of the clingo would rip off the fragile batterycover when removing it
Guest ups Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Active seems to be pretty hard, unless someone hacks around a normal stand and glues it to a windshield adapter. Even finding an hard cover for the phone is not easy. Maybe a phone with similar dimensions has one that fits nicely.
Guest veehexx Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 ups - checkout brodit (as per my post above). they do an active cradle specifically for the blade!

Got it from here for £15.00 INC delivery Superetrader I have one, it was a not holding well at first, but after a few times overnight in water it sticks like mad. It really likes to rip out the shield in front of the camera unit too  Swivel is a bit weak, doesn't hold the phone-sticky patch assembly too secure in place.

Just get the one from Dealextreme - I got one before christmas - it cost a bit over £3, holds the phone securely, will adjust easily if I get a new phone in the future and folds up neatly when I'm not using it (the cradle with my old satnav was a really awkwardly shaped thing and was always in the way when not in use) Til there's an active cradle produced (unlikely given the microUSB, imho) this is the best bet Not to say the Clingo isn't a nice idea, just it costs 4 times more and doesn't pack away so neatly
Guest ups Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 ups - checkout brodit (as per my post above). they do an active cradle specifically for the blade! I already check them, but the 2 mounts would cost me around 100 euros. Way too much. I've ordered some stuff from ebay and going DIY route!
Guest rowanmoor Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I have been looking into this a bit. So far my research has suggested that all that is needed for the phone to recognise an 'active dock' is a resistor between 2 of the pins in the cable. Given that, why does no-one produce an 'active car dock cable'? I can understand that there may not be much market for a whole active cradle for the SF, but surely a generic lead would get some interest. I am going to order a few bits and test this to see if it really is the case and see if I can make my own lead. I would far rather just buy a lead that did it for me for a few quid more though - soldering the Micro USB connector is not going to be fun.
