Guest trstn Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Hi all. I hear unrevoked3 roots phones, relaces the desire's recovery mode with amon-ra, and set's S-OFF. Wondering what would happen with my phone if I ran revoked3 on it? I'm running rooted MoDaCo r9
Guest EddyOS Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Doesn't set S-OFF on GSM phones yet
Guest chipyy Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 You can get S-OFF here though. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...htc-desire-gsm/
Guest Subject Delta Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 http://android.modaco.com/content-page/318825/Array/page/0/ This tool will S-OFF the GSM Desire, done it to mine already. Also, by default unrEVOked flashes clockwork mod, not Amon RA, although if you load it before you plug the phone's USB cable in, you can select a custom recovery image. However with S-OFF you don't need unrEVOked, as you can flash a recovery image using Fastboot. If your phone is already rooted, you don't need to use unrEVOked, just run Alpharev to get S-OFF then flash the recovery image using fastboot, you do this as follows: 1: Download the Android SDK 2: Place the image you want to flash in the SDK's /tools folder 3: Open a command prompt in that folder 4: Enter the command (without quotes) "fastboot flash recovery Filename.img" 5: Reboot your phone
Guest Kalavere Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 This is an age old thread I know, but I am trying to S-Off my Desire, and using your guide Subject Delta I keep getting this error. Were exactly am I going wrong? It's incredibly simple on the DHD to root and get S-Off, however I am really noobish where the Desire is concerned, my knowledge is very limited. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. :) I am using an AOSP ROM, Kali's Cyanogen so the N1Table is what I need, I believe.
Guest bpivk Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Use aplharev's s-off (GSM only) and you're set. http://alpharev.nl/
Guest Kalavere Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Use aplharev's s-off (GSM only) and you're set. http://alpharev.nl/ Aye, I am using AlphaRev, however I just get that error in the pic posted when I try to flash the .img from HBOOT.
Guest bpivk Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) I see now. Try this: - go into recovery and select the fastboot option (first option if I remember correctly) - fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img (change into the correct filename) - fastboot reboot-bootloader - fastboot erase cache Edited December 18, 2010 by bpivk

I tried putting 'fastboot flash hboot recovery bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img' and that didn't work either. :)
Guest bpivk Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) Are you in fastboot mode? And skip the recovery (fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img). Guest Kalavere Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Are you in fastboot mode? And skip the recovery (fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img). I am in fastboot USB and it's just not working. It keeps saying 'FAILED (remote: signature verify fail). This is driving me up the wall! :) I am typing 'fastboot flash bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img' in CMD after navigating to C:\AndroidSDK\tools, where I have put the bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img. *edit* Aren't I missing a command or something? I.e. a radio flashing command is 'fastboot flash radio radio.img', where as S-Off doesn't have such a command. Edited December 19, 2010 by Kalavere
Guest Kalavere Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I flashed via Linux Thanks a lot for the assistance you gave me bpivk, I got there in the end. :) ;)
Guest DiscoHero Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) AlphaRev 1.5 How To Get S-OFF I am writing this from memory as I S-OFFed my phone sometime ago but here is how to do it. No responsibility if you brick your phone. This process is dangerous and may brick your phone so if you do not have a good reason to do it or do not know what it is, don't do it! Your phone should be already rooted for this to work. 1. Go to http://alpharev.nl/ 2. Download AlphaRev 1.5 HBOOT reflash utility (first download link on the page) 3. Burn to CD / put on USD Stick using UNetbootin / Create VM (CD is the preferred way to do it ... "safer") 4. Boot computer from CD/USB while the phone is DISCONNECTED! 5. When prompted connect phone to computer using USB cable and follow instructions. Phone doesn't have to be in fastboot or anything, the program will reboot your phone for you. There are three steps to the entire process. Once you press enter and aknowledge that the process may brick you phone ... go make tea/coffee as it will take 10-15 minutes. DO NOT DISCONNECT your phone from the computer under any circumstances UNLESS EXPLICITLY TOLD THAT IT IS OK TO DO SO or you WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE! 6. Eventually you will be prompted to press any key to shut down the computer, that your S-OFF was a success and that you can enjoy your phone to the fullest now. Your phone will be in fastboot mode (if I remember correctly or may be rebooted fully). To check if you have S-OFF boot into fastboot and it should say ***AlphaRev*** and your HBOOT should be 0.93.001 now as in the screenshots posted above. Your splash boot image would have also changed (Search XDA for how to change your splash1 as it is doable in a few easy steps with "any" image). Voila, you have S-OFF. You ROM should remain as is (the process only replaces HBOOT) while your recovery may or may not be there. *** The following steps are only necessary is you want to have N1 Table partitions and are NOT running a Sense ROM, if you have Sense ROM then get Sense or Data+ Patch or just don't do anything *** 7. Boot into Windows (if you are running x64 Windows 7 you may have some issues installing Android SDK ... google for a solution) 8. Provided your android SDK is installed. Download the patch you want to apply (N1 Table, Data+ etc.) and put it into tools directory where fastboot is. 9. Put phone into fasboot mode (Power + Back) and connect it to PC until detected (will take a few seconds if this is your first time running Android SDK) 10. Follow the instructions from http://alpharev.nl as follows to apply the patch: 1) Nandroid backup in recovery. 2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table. 3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-n1table.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded) 4) 'Fastboot reboot-bootloader' 5) 'Fastboot erase cache' 6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore. Steps 3-5 are done from command prompt on your PC. So you will have to cd/ls yourself to the tools directory in Android SDK wherever you installed it. Voila! Now you have S-OFF and N1 partitions (more space for /data and less space wasted in /system). Edited December 19, 2010 by DiscoHero
Guest Kalavere Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Thanks alot Discohero, I worked it out last night. I was trying to flash n1table before I had even installed S-OFF. :) Most of the guides assume you have some knowledge of how to use HBOOT commands (Rightly so) and don't give step by step advice. Thank you both for your help.
