Hi,

is it possible to use the current modaco-r9 with a newly purchased SLCD-Desire and what steps are necessary in comparison to a AMOLED Device?

Which methods for rooting and (fake-)flash etc. should be used?

Thanks

You don't need to use that guide, just get unrEVOked 3.21 to root your current Desire ROM and then you can go into the world of custom ROMs

Yes it's one click root but you have to install windows drivers first. The FAQ page will tell you everything you need.

But note that you can experience some problems under Windows 64 bit at least some people (me included) do.

You copy the zip file onto your SD card and just select flash from zip when in Clockwork Recovery. You don't need anything else apart from wiping the phone first (option in Clockwork).

Here are the drivers and instructions for installing them.

Here is the FAQ.

And this is the software you need to root your phone (Unrevoked3).

It's fairly safe so don't worry. If you experience any problems on windows use a live linux cd like Ubuntu and it should work without problems but you'll need a different version of unrevoked (for Linux).
