Desperately seeking bootanimation

I wonder if anybody is able to help me. I am looking for a boot animation that I had on my phone a while back when I tried a rom out. I didn't like the rom so changed but I loved the boot animation.

It was the one where it starts as a blank screen and a drawing slowly appears of some yoghurt in a dish type thing and gradually the drawing fills with colour.

I did find the animation on xda but I think it was made for another device as I tried installing it via the bootanimation app I have and ended up with just a black screen. Either that or it had to be installed via recovery which I would prefer not to do, would like to be able to do it via the app that I know works very well.

I have the download still with all the files and images so if anybody would like to take a look for me and create the zip to be installed via the app, I would very much appreciate it.

I've included the file in this post so that somebody can perhaps take a look at it for me. I'm not sure but I think the rom that the animation originally came with was by somebody called Roufianos, not a hundred percent sure though.

Anyway, hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting the file on here and sincerely apologise if I am.

Anybody who can help me, I would be really grateful as I have been searching for this for a few weeks now.

It's because the zip you posted is putting the bootanimation.zip into the wrong place.

Does the ROM you're running symlink the bootanimation to /data?

I have no idea. I am using an official pre rooted ota froyo rom that was released when froyo was first officially available in the uk in August.

All I know is I have a bootanimation app on my phone and it works very smoothly. I have also tried another boot animation which was posted on one of the threads on here and it worked fine with that too.

The app has an import option now so I just click on that and find where I have stored the file on the sd card and import it to the app and install that way.

Am I making any sense here?

I've created a signed zip for you, but looking at the image files of the boot animation they're not 480*800 - this boot animation has been made for another phone by the looks...

Didn't work, just came up with "there was a problem ..." and couldn't install it at all.

Thanks for trying though. Perhaps I should just give up on it but it's such a shame when I have had that animation before with a son I tried. I really like it and would love to have it. It's a nice girly one. Lol.

Well I've never used the application, so not sure how the files it needs should be made.

Depends also if you're symlinked.

It's where there's a system link between two places/files.

Before the S-OFF hacked bootloader was released last week, you had to boot into recovery to install a new bootanimation as the file usually resides in /system/customize/resource and /system was write protected whilst the phone was booted.

To get around this issue, some ROM devs symlink the bootanimation to the /data/local partition which is mounted as writeable when the phone is booted, allowing people to change the file there without going into recovery.

If you try to install the bootanimation to /system/customize/resource - it won't like it.

Thank you, think I understand now. Have managed to get one of the animations working this morning, however, not the one I actually want. lol. Am still trying to work it out. I'll get there eventually.

That post is actually just a splash screen but you can download the ROM and get the bootanimation.zip form it obviously...

Bh, that explains why it didn't work. Lol. Have managed to get the other one working now, just need to resize it.

That could explain why it didn't work, I kept it as delite, should have changed it to bootanimation shouldn't I. lol.

The file I used in the end was one posted for people to use on xda, it was made when you had to go into recovery to change the boot animation. I took the loop folder and desc file and used them to get the animation, plus I resized (changed the values on the desc file) so that it would fill the whole of the screen on the desire. The actuall animation itself is still smaller but I'm not clever enough to make that part bigger. lol.

I really don't know what I'm doing with this kind of stuff anyway, it's just me thinking logically and what may or may not work, fortunately, it worked and I haven't as yet bricked my phone messing around. lol.

I will try and make the animation itself larger at some point I think, when I am more wide awake though. lol.
