Guest alimccarley Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hello folks, great phone and all that, however when I click on Mail I get the message 'Validating phone number... Error validating phone number'. Now I don't really want to contact 02 as I lost my iPhone and still have an iPhone contract (unlimited data) and using a different model would infringe the contract, where they might force me on to one of their new contracts (cheaper but restricted data usage). Any ideas how I can set up mail on an 02 contract? I've got a couple of accounts I want to use, 2 are my own domains and one is a Hotmail account.

I think the default supplied mail app by orange is somehow tied to its own network. Download K-9 from the market instead, though it doesn't do push hotmail. Paul's review mentions that the orange mail app is actually Seven so you could try installing the beta from there if you don't want to use pop3 with hotmail.
Guest RNBW Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I've just been speaking to Orange Help Desk and they tell me that I will have to pay £5/month for mobile e-mail if I want to use any service provider other than Orange. I certainly wasn't made aware of this when I went into an Orange shop to look at the phone and subsequently purchased from Orange on-line. When looking at the cost of the phone, it's not long before its cheapness is increased to the cost of other phones. For example, my wife bought an HTC Wildfire. 18 months and there's no difference in cost. RNBW
Guest RNBW Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Setting up e-mail on San Francisco for any provider other than Orange. The set up for O2 looked interesting. Is there a similar set up for ntlworld that anyone can advise on? Will changing the ROM to basic Android overcome the problem? RNBW
