Guest zesus Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hi, I have had my pulse (U8220) for six months and started using FLB 1.1 when it first came out, great mod. Decided to update to FLB 1.7 but got the following error message (did a full wipe before install, going to HU 2.1 first): Writing BOOT :... E :Error finishing BOOT : E :Failure at line 378 : write_raw_image PACKAGE :boot.img BOOT : Installation aborted. So I thought I would try UK 2.1 but got the same message. Now I cannot revert back to FLB (any version), and can only run HU 2.1 which installs no problem. Any ideas? While goggling issue it appears it may be a hardware fault, has anyone else experienced? And how did you get t-mobile to fix i.e. i cant say it failed while installing a mod!
Guest The.Edge Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) It seems I'm not the only one with the problem. I've also got this problem. The only ROMS that will install are Paul's MCR 2.1 build and the official T-Mo HU update. All the FLB-mods give me the same error. I hope someone knows how to fix this (please in a noob friendly way :)) Edited October 5, 2010 by The.Edge

Guest zesus Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Are you having problems installing the T-Mobile UK 2.1 ROM also? Yes, it says 'update failed' and just hangs.
Guest nizarovich Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 mm i have this problem also ;) we need extra solution :)
Guest skandigraun Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Did you use a nandroid backup? I mean if you have restored your phone since you installed flb 1.1 but before the update tries. I think it caused me similar problems also. The time machine patch worked for me.

A possible test would help: try to flash Froyo 0.51, but NOT flibblescan's version, but the original ROM of Tom G, via fastboot. It would be helpful to see if it is successful.

Also i have tried timemachine, the patch has been fine but still will not allow me to use any 2.1 versions other than the HU one.
Guest The.Edge Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) I've just tried the UK T-Mobile 2.1 update. No luck either. It says "Update failed", after which I had to remove the battery to shut it off. Now I can't even go back to Paul's MCR 2.1 R7 anymore as it says: "E: Can't find symlink /system/xbin[ E: Failure at line 12: symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin[installation aborted" Edited October 5, 2010 by The.Edge
Guest oporto Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I had this problem too...... turned out it was a hardware failure. Sent my Pulse back to T-Mobile for repair who just downgraded it to 1.5 again and said "no fault found", then I insisted they fixed it after I broke it again trying to upgrade to UK 2.1. They then found that it "didnt fully power up" and replaced the main board under warranty and everything works as normal now. If you cant install FLB after v1.3 and the UK T-mob 2.1 ROM wont install, you also wont be able to install the TRE ROM. Definately a hardware failure, there have been a few of us with it!

Thanks for letting me know, thought it might be hardware issue. I assume you just tired installing UK 2.1, let it fail and sent back.
