Guest clivec Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 ok, so i'm not a complete noob, but i'm learning bits as we go. I had removed dataviz office and i have a quickoffice.apk from a rom i once had on a desire. Obviously i could (and have) copied it onto the device and use a file explorer to install it, but also obviously it gets installed into the data partition. I notice that on mcr datavis is not present anyway, so i'd like to install quickoffice into /system in order to save space on /data. I have tried copying the apk into /system/app/ using root explorer but that didn't work (as half expected). Sooooo, in the words of a monday night tv prog "how do they do it??"

The easiest way to get an app into /system/app is to use Root Explorer to copy the apk into /system/app. Did you mount R/W? Did you restart the phone? If yes to both questions, then I'm really not sure Edited October 5, 2010 by robot1000
