Guest 325i Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 It seems like many people are having problems with there phone. The r3 also seems more problematic than the R2. Shall I buy one now or wait until these problems have been sorted?

Shall I buy one now or wait until these problems have been sorted? Problems will be solved. Can you wait until that or you want a perfect phone from the beginning? If the second, buy a HTC Desire or similar. Blade is cheap as hell and has some (fixable) handicaps. Your decision.
Guest 325i Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 I have already got a desire. I'm thinking of getting one for my younger brother.
Guest thomas01155 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 There aren't really that many problems ^^ I love my san fran r3. Only problem I have is the wifi when it sleeps, but that is just slightly annoying.
Guest lonegunman Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Dont flash it with r3 then,r2 works just as good but if you have the money get another desire.

Guest 325i Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hmm. Think ill wait a week or so when there are more updates and an online kitchen?

Shall I buy one now or wait until these problems have been sorted? The phone itself is fine. But its a cheap phone with a no-flash camera. And a great screen. And being new-new, even Orange's software distribution v1.0 has the odd booboo. Nothing serious though. I've no idea whether Orange will put the price up or discount it further. Or whether there may be alternative sources of ZTE's Blade. Or with other configs. If you want a high-end product, you're going to have to pay rather more than for this. The current deal is great, even if (or maybe because) Orange's data charges and allowances are not a good deal.
Guest 325i Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Right, just phoned orange and bought one for £79.99 which includes a £10 top up. By looking at the prices in eBay I should be able to get my money back if I don't like it.

Guest 325i Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Orange payg customers can get it for £89.99 as mentioned in another thread. I just phoned and got talking about discounts, the lady put me on hold and checked with her superior and offered me the price of 79.99. Best thing is, that I have not used that orange similar for months.

Guest clivec Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 to be honest, this is the best place to come to put you off in some respects, ppl post about problems more than they do if all is fine, i, for 1, have had absolutely no problems at all. I'm on r3, and i push my luck a bit modding and experimenting, so far, no probs. Great phone for the money, you won't (shouldn't) regret it. :)

For a new users the high amount of problem threads can be off-putting and make it seems like the phone has a million and one bugs. But the reality is that most of these issues aren't really issues with the phone but mostly users just being unsure. There are many experienced people in the forums who are more than willing to help people as long as questions are asked in existing threads. It's the best phone I've ever owned... and I used to have an iPhone!
Guest tdodd Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) It seems like many people are having problems with there phone. The r3 also seems more problematic than the R2. Shall I buy one now or wait until these problems have been sorted? I received my San Fran last Wednesday. It is my first Android phone, and prior to getting the San Fran I had no hands on experience with Android whatsoever. Anyway, on day one I had the thing unlocked and rooted, but I have held off installing custom ROMs. In fact I think with some of my tinkering I may have caused a problem so I reflashed with the stock ROM. I've installed a bunch of apps and a few widgets and at the moment I am unaware of any problems with the phone. It works exactly as I would expect. The only weak spot that irritates me is battery life when running GPS navigation in the foreground. Then the battery does go down fast. Interestingly, to me at least, when running "My Tracks" to record my path whilst out walking the dog, the power consumption is comparatively modest if I leave the screen turned off and the thing stuffed in my pocket. It is only when having a real time display, such as navigating with Google Satellite images (nice!) that the thing gets a bit scorchio and the battery plummets. However, for the princely sum of £1.50 I have bought a little Mini-Micro USB converter that means my existing car charger works just fine, holding its own in terms of supplying enough power to slowly charge the battery while charging. I have a more powerful USB car charger on the way (actually, four of them in all, for under $10 delivered). I did notice the issue with the sleepy WiFi, but for whatever reason I'm not getting a problem with that any more. All in all my only complaint is battery life, but I think I can mitigate that with judicious use of Quick Settings to turn things off when I don't need them. I'm sure I'll get around to installing a custom ROM, but I'm happy to wait for the dust to settle and the creases to be ironed out. p.s. I paid £83 for mine without topping up. Bargain! Guest Spaennis Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hi there! I guess that many of you in this thread is from the UK? Can someone please help a poor swedish fellow like me to get my hands on this phone? I´ve sent PMs to a bunch of guys from UK in the "where to buy san francisco outside UK"-thread, but none of them can help me because of their non-working paypal account or because of lack of San Franciscos in the stores.. If someone here can help me out, PM me! Greetings from a phone-desperate guy from sweden!
