I rooted my phone last night and put on the r3 rom, (Thanks for the help there lads) :) yesterday before i did that i was able to get maps on google while i was out, without wifi, but today i can only get them if i'm connect to wifi. In the settings under "Data Connections" it says "connection failed" even tho its got the green tick, and i also get the little flashing satelite symbol on the top of the screen. I just have a normal o2 sim on my phone (not simplicity) if that is of any help. Any idea's whats wrong?

Green tick says that is what you are trying to use.NOT that its OK.

Sounds like you need to (re)enter the O2 data connection setup data ...

Note that if your GPS is working with WiFi, then it ain't a GPS problem .... :)

Thanks for your help lads, found them now, was looking at mms setting rather than data settings ;)

I thought gps was free to use on google maps? so why has it just eaten all my credit trying to open the map? :)

I've also got this issue and am on Vodafone but have no data allowance. I also noticed the APN settings are blank. Do these need to be filled in to allow sports trackers and also google maps to work.

Also does Wifi need to be on or off when outside to allow GPS to work? This used to work fine up until a day ago so not sure how it was working ??
