Guest Shahz Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Nimbuzz is an awesome alternative too :)
Guest le_lutin Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Nimbuzz is an awesome alternative too :) I still have the "Skype Lite" version on my phone (I downloaded it a few months ago) and there are still advantages to it over this version. With the lite version you didn't need data connection at all as it used the phone network to call a number which then connected to whoever you were phoning. The disadvantage of this is of course that it uses up phone minutes, but I have more inclusive minutes on my contract than I know what to do with. The advantage of it is that you don't need a data connection and the audio quality was absolutely crystal.

Guest JackTheMan18 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 After trying out this app, I must report that I am very disappointed. It appears that the authors really do not understand how to properly code an Android application. They absolutely insist on Skype remaining eternally on, and eternally active using up precious memory. Of course, trying to manage the app, and stop it, is proving to be very difficult.
Guest Yod-b Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 whaaat? can't move an app to SD?! :) or if i'm being lame, feel free to tell me. otherwise the long awaited app lacks some basic "function".
Guest Lord_Phoenix Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Very nice application, but too heavy :-( Both in terms of size and performance.. Voice quality is so much better than SIPdroid, Fring or Nimbuzz though.
Guest tsh Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 good of them to assume that skype is so important that I need it to be persistant. I had the same problem with the linux version (unable to not auto-start)

I am really looking around for that.

Guest NexusX Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) Why would you recommend this app (unless you're being paid to do so?) It's absolute trash, and messes up consistently. If you just took the time to do some Googling, you'll find horrendous numbers of people slating it. Call quality?... well, I can't even get a call to connect without static BOTH ENDS. Did you SERIOUSLY test this app, Paul? Fail. Here is the original "Skype Lite" :P: DOWNLOAD Edited October 20, 2010 by NexusX
