I am using a £1 convertor from Poundland, car lighter socket - USB, then plug in USB cable that came with the SF.

I need to look out for a cheap USB - micro USB cable, so can leave one in car and one at home.

At the moment I'm using an old charger with captive Mini USB lead that I've been using for years with my T-Mobile MDA Vario. I don't know the rated current delivery but it held its own, without overheating, while running SatNav with Google satellite maps. In order to use the lead I bought this adapter from eBay....

£1.50 - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

There are smaller, cheaper adapters available from Hong Kong, which I've also ordered, but I wanted a quick solution to tide me over. I don't see any harm in having a couple of these things lurking about fo future use.

This is a temporary solution, as I'd rather use a charger with 1 Amp rating, which should not only run the device but have enough in reserve to charge more rapidly. My current charger is barely able to increase the charge while running SatNav. It seems to take almost all the juice on offer simply to run the phone. With that in mind I have bought and received this 2m USB-Micro USB lead....

£1.79 - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:EOIBSA:GB:1123

and, following a bit of research, have ordered four of these 1 Amp chargers, for my car, and my partner's, and for any other devices that need power....

<$10 in total for bulk discount, including delivery - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.40470

When they arrive would you confirm that they are all working (and that the USB Lead fits the SF), please tdodd?

Thank you in advance.

The 2m USB lead does fit and works perfectly. I have plugged one end into the supplied mains charger and I'm using the lead to give me more reach to my desk from the power socket.

The larger mini-micro converter also works as expected. That's in the car and is allowing me to use an old mini USB charger with the San Fran.

I'm waiting for the little mini-micro converters and the 1 Amp USB car chargers, which are shipping from Hong Kong. It might be a week or two before I see either of those.

Thank you. I think I'll order one of each.

The mains charger there is rated at 1000mA, but the car charger is rated at only 500mA. The charger supplied with the phone is 700mA. Personally I'd prefer the charger to be equal to or better than the manufacturer spec rather than beneath it. The 500mA car charger might work, as my old one seems to, but you may find it will struggle to supply enough power to run satnav and charge the phone at the same time.

You can get 1000mA car chargers from Hong Kong for 99p, or the same chargers within the UK for £2.69. As I posted earlier, I've selected chargers from Dealextreme, which have a low profile design and will not make your dash look like sh!t. I bought four at a total cost after currency conversion of £6.42 including delivery. 7dayshop have a similar one from Belkin for around a fiver.....

I like Dealextreme's prices better. :)

Don't you find the cable that comes with the San Fran feels quite cheap anyway? I don't think I have experienced such a horribly stiff USB cable in years! :)

I like to think it's because ZTE chose to use solid copper cores to improve the data bandwidth and reduce charging times, but while data transfers are nice and quick, charging is soooooo slow. :)

Still waiting for the deliveries from Hong Kong, from two different suppliers. As the orders were placed on 2nd and 4th October I can't say I'm impressed with the service. I've bought loads of stuff from Hong Kong over the years and I think these two purchases are setting new records for tardiness.

Fortunately I seem to be getting by OK with what I have already - an old car charger and a UK supplied mini-micro converter.

found this incar charger on HDUK 99p delivered.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002HMZ...g=hotukdeals-21

I ordered one of those, came within 2 days and when I plugged it into my phone and checked my battery it was charging at 0.7a (shows as AC) rather than 0.5a (USB) that cheaper chargers provide.

It charges my phone from 30% up to over 60% on a regular 10 minute drive I do every day.

They're now up to £2.50 delivered, but in my view it's still a bargain :P
