Guest steviem Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 So I was trying to put my sim card that I've been using in my iPad into my SF using a microSIM adapter. I ended up tearing two of the contact pins off as I tried taking it out again. Really silly of me, I went to Orange and they said it wouldn't be a warranty repair. (Not surprised). I'll take a photo of it when I get home today though. Fortunately I didn't need it as a phone, I really use it with endomodo so I can track my cycling to work and listen to music while I ride. It's just annoying, I was hoping to use it as something with internet on all the time and hopefully when 2.2 comes out, use it for wireless tethering. I guess, would there be anything I can try with it to make some kind of electrical contact with sim cards again? Or even if anyone can repair it for me, except anything over about £50 would start being uneconomical because I could just get a mifi for that amount, I guess.

I could repair it for you but I wouldn't expect you to send your phone to me in the post! If you are anywhere near Dorset then you could drop by and I could do it whilst you wait, or a phone repair shop should be able to do it but I have no idea of the cost. (Depends how bad the damage is and whether its a simple sim socket replacement or whether the pcb needs new tracks laying) EDIT: re wireless tether. Barnacle wireless tether works great for us on SF :) Cheers Edited October 6, 2010 by jsplace
