Hello People

Please excuse my complete newbness at all of this. The work you guys put in to try and crack Froyo seems phrenomian, and I hope I will benefit from that when it happens, so thank you very much for all your hard work.

However, I have a quick question.

I currently have the hungarian 2.1 running on my device and have no great complaints aside 1 or 2 v niggly bugs with contacts & music player. Do I need to / would I be better off getting the English T-Mobile official 2.1 rom on there?

Will it make any difference at all?

Many thanks

Graham

All the Uk 2.1 ROM does is make the data partition larger (for more apps) and makes the system partition smaller (for system stuff...) and has a slightly newer kernel. I don't know if there are any noticeable differences, because I use the Tre 2.1 ROM, with Froyo on top ;)

And welcome! Enjoy your stay at modaco! :)

As I've reas other opinions, they say that if u stick with the official rom and not custom, the fastest is the T-MobUK and has various fixes too (like the annoying rotating screen). As I've heard, the Tre rom has the same fixes, but left the partitioning as it was with the T-MobHU (like Dan said up there:) ).

I hope this helps.

I think your best option would be

Install 2.1 UK Rom, Then a Custom 2.1 Rom.

Makes the phone feel soo much better tbh.

Have a ask round and see what people's opinions are.

I dont think anyone on this forum, is still on a official rom. ( Part from a few people )

I'm on official rom due to broken USB port :)

As for me UK version is more stable at least on my phone. Endomondo used to hang on Hungarian but running fine on UK rom.

This is my humble experience

-Both official 2.1 hungarian and uk update are too slow ! Uk version is not better.

-You must use modaco 2.1 rom:much faster and less bloted software

I tried alpha 2.2 froyo but my pulse could not be called...

Therefore,I reverted to modaco 2.1 which is great !

The only drawback i notice is the slow boot (>1 minute) but different blogs informed me this is a general curse for most smartphone

Even, the iphone would not boot faster ....

I think, the info you need can be found here, in the first post:

You should also note, that there is a difference between an update (firmware update, also called ROM), and a ROM (for example stock or FLB1,2 J-MOD, etc.).

A firmware update will install a stock ROM, which you can replace...

I'd recommend UK 2.1 update, than FLB1 v1.7

How do you charge your phone?

Via USB but only when phone is off. I'm just turning it off, inserting USB from PC and going to sleep. Everyday :)

I had the tre 2.1 rom for ages, just liked the look of it more than hungarian and uk, plus it was nice and stable for me.

But then I tried an FLB rom and have stuck with FLB roms ever since as they are so much smoother and faster.

So yeah i would definitely advise switching to a custom rom, you will be pleasantly surprised im sure!!

I would say

Install official UK 2.1, then root your pulse, install FLB MOD 1.7, flash LauncherPro, and download an app called Swapper2, buy a micro sd card 8GB class 6, and run with swap size of 128mb with a swappiness of 15! this is how im set up, i am very new to all this modding stuff only been on android for a few months!

the work that the Dev's do on here is amazing! and to be honest, i feel that every time they solve my problems i should donate to them, but still being at school with no job, at the moment i cant!

evryone on this forum is great help, and i also welcome you to the amazing Modaco Pulse community!

i hope my advice helps :)

this all works a treat for me!

hope it does for you!

Jamie ;)

you should try flbmod2 alpha3 with jit enabled!!

the booting time for me is very fast less than 1 minute i think.. feel the different by yourself..

Apparently not - it makes no difference if you are using any of the froyo roms as this will replace the kernal regardless of Tre or UK. Only system size is different. This might be a disadvantage for UK users as full Gapps zip won't install as not enough space left (use mini zip on uk instead), I think dalvik internal may be smaller too on UK (of course A2SD and Dalvik2SD will help here ) . So, I would say no, don't upgrade to UK if your moving to froyo.

Having said that i realised there is a possibility that the 2.1UK firmware update changed something internal - chip firmware update or something but its highly unlikely.

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I've done the UK 2.1 update then FLB1 1.7, and it is truely impressive. It seriously kicks the ass out of my stock rom experience.

The only gripe I have for it, is when I want to assign an individual ringtone to a contact, es file explorer FC's every time. This is a tiny tiny issue that I can live without, however I just wanted to make Fibblescan aware incase he wishes to review this in any future mods. This might be the wrong forum for this post?

Thank you again everyone for sorting me out.
