Have a small problem, the market says that Google Maps and Gmail have to bee updated .. trying to update, but can not install says mobile. Checked up, and it is true that they need an update.

Downloaded latest APK files programs. to SD, installing from Linda Manager .. Can not install at all.

Someone who can help me?

I believe it's due to the fact that previously they were only updated with new roms.

Now they're on the market, but as I understand it they aren't able to be updated via the market, only via flashing an updated rom.

I could be entirely wrong though!

Already a thread on this http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...odaco-froyo-r8/, please search for the issue before posting up a new post

:)

I'd also recommend you use r9 WIP (it's due to be set as a full release according to a recent post by Paul in the r9 WIP thread) it's more up to date than r8 and has Gmail 2.3 included.

If you're rooted, and made S-OFF, then you can simpy delete the gmail.apk and after that you can install the fresh one from market.

If you're rooted, and made S-OFF, then you can simpy delete the gmail.apk and after that you can install the fresh one from market.

Again, assuming you are rooted you could simply delete /system/app/Gmail.apk from the ROM zip file and then flash the modified Zip. To do this you will need a recovery that does not check for the signature à la ClockworkMod Recovery.

Once you've flashed the ROM without Gmail, you can simply download and install Gmail from the market.

This works for GMail. However, for GMaps you are out of luck. I have tried it multiple times and the above approach does not work for GMaps. You could try it though and you could be lucky - some others have reported it to work for GMaps too.

Regards,

Kiran
