Guest steve1221 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 When I got my SF a week or so back the guy in the store said that it was just the first of a range of Android handsets coming from Orange before Christmas !! He said that next month (ie October) there was going to be the Orange California, which would be a higher spec than the SF and would be £149.99. I've tried looking in all the usually places for anything on this and found nothing ?? Anyone heard anything about this ?

Sounds intriguing, but the fact that 'the guy in the store' would know about it but no one else on the internet plus the fact that it seems to be named after a state and not a city like all the other orange phones seem to be, makes me question the reliability of your source.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've seen it mentioned once before on (I think HUKD), but I can't find it now !
Guest Gibbo501 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 The store guy where I got mine said something similar - that this would be the first of a few Orange branded Smartphones.

It would be good if this happens and they are affordable. One with a snapdragon processor would be cool :) Edited October 7, 2010 by shovon
Guest csr_cafc Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 The store guy where I got mine said something similar - that this would be the first of a few Orange branded Smartphones. I remember a press release a month back saying the same thing that they would be releasing a number of different smartphones under the orange brand although it didnt say what they were or when they were coming - a pre xmas release is sensible though. Wait and see is the only option i guess.
Guest Azurren Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) The ZTE blade was the highest speced ZTE smartphone on display (Before it came to orange) So.. I don't know what make / model it could be ;) All I know is that orange to back-stab us by releasing a completely better phone for only £50 more :) I think we would all feel as bad as recent pulse mini owners :( Edited October 7, 2010 by Azurren
Guest tom619 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 This isnt what i wanted to hear my dad and i have just bought 2 san frans!
Guest clonmult Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 The store guy where I got mine said something similar - that this would be the first of a few Orange branded Smartphones. But then the store guys at Nokia shops don't tend to know anything, or at least be reliable - when I picked up my SF, the staff were surprised when it booted up with the Android logo .. "oh, its got android". The customer before me was asking for support on Orange Broadband, but the "trained staff" are apparently only trained in sales techniques, not real product knowledge. I offered to help the customer for them .... got a thanks, but was hoping for additional discount on the SF! Similarly, when I asked them about the Nokia N8 being offered I was told "That it won't be offered as its not compatible with the Orange software". Eh? So why were they selling the X6, 5800 and 5230 ....
Guest Paul Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 I would be REALLY surprised to see the San Francisco surpassed at a similar price point any time soon!!! P
Guest Simon O Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 More thank likely the SanFran will go up in price and a cheaper phone with lower resolution etc will be released for around £80 to appeal to the younger market. Probably an Orange version of the ZTE Racer.
Guest hillmie87 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Ah this is exciting. if it's GBP150, i hope they'll throw in a 1gb mgh processor. Then it'll al be perfect. And hopefully the phone will pretty much be future proof (especially so that it'll be able to run newer version of android OS smoothly)
Guest tabor56 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 it was the acatel palm pre style phone if i remember rightly, its not very good. ill post link when i remember where i found it/ less drunk
Guest Afrodude Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 There were rumours of this ZTE Blade/ Orange deal floating about months before it was actually announced, i can't see anything else relating to other devices that orange could be using though.
Guest tabor56 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 this is the phone i mean http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2010/02/15/al...ted-for-europe/

Guest BigBearMDC Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 I asked Orange AUT today, and they're not even planning to release the SanFran in Austria. They don't know anything about the California either. Best regards, BB

Guest DanWilson Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Lowest spec phone with a 2" screen, a guy that shouts abuse at you and a blade to stab you with... Introducing, the Orange Drumchapel.

Guest DanWilson Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) ;) :) It's true. That's what happens here. Stabbings, gang fights and boozing. Kinda brings the place down a bit, ya know? Got attracted to this thread from the title. "A bit OT." SOLD. Edited October 7, 2010 by DanWilson
Guest McSpoon Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 :) There were rumours of the Huawei U8150 IDEOS coming to Orange. It's tiny 240x320 screen would seem rubbish in comparison to the San Francisco. ZTE and Huawei are bad enough. I hope Alcatel doesn't make an appearance and God help us if Sagem were to join in.

Lulz. If that happens, God help me I'll steal a gun from an army base, shoot you (because you suggested it) shoot everyone who works at Orange, Sagem and Alcatel, then shoot the clouds to try hit God, for cursing Android to Hell.

As long as Honda and Hyundai don't release Android phones ... every, really every manufacturer is releasing Android phones or tablets ... this is getting ridiculous somehow. Google is loosing control.
