Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Hi there! So I just installed the R3 MoDaCo rom, but I don't want the Tango orange MoDaCo dude as my bootsplash - is there a simple way that I can replace the BMP/PNG(?) which is the boot logo, with my own? I'm *extremely* clued up with Linux and Macs etc, so please feel free to explain in geek terms (althought simple is always best :() If you're going to reply to my post, please make sure that: 1/ You know the answer to my query 2/ You're not just guessing I say this not to be rude, but because I haven't a lot of time in my life, and what I do have, I don't want to spend wading through fluff which isn't succinct and to the point! :) Thank you ;)
Guest fradleyp Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 I would also like to do this with my favourite fooball teams logo
Guest Paul Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 You need to replace the PNGs in the framework-res.apk (assets/images) with your own. I'm going to set up a future MCR so it pulls the images from a more useful location tho... :) P
Guest Rem1x Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Edit the images in the framework-res.apk Now that clockwork recovery is out, I should be able to write a little tuturial when I get some time :)

Thank you :) - how's the Mac Mini?

Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 I think I'll wait haha. Unless this is easier than it sounds Dude, it's VERY easy! .apk files are essentially .zip files, renamed with .apk. I use "archive manager" on Linux Mint, you just click the .tar.gz, browse & replace.

Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) Paul, please give the FULL, absolute path to the /assets/images folder to which you refer, from / (root) THX [EDIT] nvm, found it: "/framework/framework-res.apk" (double-click "framework-res.apk" and then browse to assets/images :)) Edited October 7, 2010 by glossywhite

Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 is this the internal memory? how do I access this from my PC? Nope. You download the ROM in tar.gz format from the R3 post, and open with winRAR (if you had a REAL OS, this wouldn't be so fiddly! :)) Okay, so - Paul - I take it all these duplicate, identical PNGs are the boot animation frames? PS: Just imported "bootanim1.raw" into audacity, and it sounds funkkkkkyyy... what is that?!

Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 what does the img size have to be and does it have to be PNG, could you write a quick guide Has to be the same name as the one in the R3, 480x800 pixels and PNG
Guest tom619 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 i'd appreciate some wallpapers if anyone knows where to get them thanks
Guest fradleyp Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) Has to be the same name as the one in the R3, 480x800 pixels and PNG I'm in framework-res.apk what now do I have to replace all 24 pngs? Edited October 7, 2010 by fradleyp
Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) I'm in framework-res.apk what now do I have to replace all 24 pngs? That's what I am trying to ascertain - I think so, yes, and the reason they're all identical is because it is a stationary logo, not animated. If you wanted an animation, you'd carry your animation across those 24 PNG frames. Kapish? :) Edited October 7, 2010 by glossywhite

Guest fradleyp Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) hahahahahah I did it. Loving it hmmm seems to take a little longer to boot, not sure if that is because it is first boot second boot was good Edited October 7, 2010 by fradleyp
Guest glossywhite Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) I don't use Windows, being a *nixy kinda guy :), sorry! It should be a matter of DELETING OUK_480x800_01.PNG to OUK_480x800_24.PNG, and then dropping in replacements. I've attached the replacements I just knocked up in GIMP, for you to try :-) - I just flashed my firmware with these, and guess what... it animates! (albeit slowly :-S)myanim.zip Edited October 7, 2010 by glossywhite
