Guest vfrvulcan Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Some of you may have seen posts by myself and others in the R8/9 threads relating to certain pages on the BBC News website crashing the browser on some pages which also contain Flash. This is not limited to just the BBC but quite a few sites, but the BBC took note of our issues and did some investigations of their own with the help of aLogCat files and feedback. Paul and others have looked at Browser Cache issues to try to resolve this but it looked like badly-crafted Flash files causing the problems. I'm happy to report that the BBC Mobile team notified me on Monday that they hope to have the problems resolved today. I've just checked all my known 'faulty' pages and am happy to report that they all now work fine, no more crashes :) Maybe others who had this problem could also confirm that it is fixed. Now I'm just waiting for them to fix the issue with all the links on the News site being vertically offset from their proper position. Many thanks to Paul and all the others who helped to confirm the issues and offer workarounds/assistance, and also to Aunty for actually listening and doing something about it, the browser is now usable with the Beeb (except for the above remaining issue!). Cheers Aaron

Aaron Get in! Nice one man. I did contact them myself via their contact form but that was from a PC not my phone or to BBC Mobile. I have to say, the BBC Mobile team have a good record for me, I asked them a few months back to put the Facebook share option on stories viewed via the BBC Mobile site (they just had SMS as an option) and they replied v quickly saying 'good idea' and within a few days it was there. Don't feel so glum about paying my TV licence fee just now :) Edited October 7, 2010 by BashyUK
