Guest mastakila Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Last night before going to bed I used kill all from task manager to save battery (I also have Automatic Task Killer installed) and this morning almost got late for work because my alarm didn't go off! Is there alarm clock app that cannot be killed by task manager or any other software so I can always be certain that alarm will go off at specified time. Thanks

Thanks Dont know if theres an app for that :) But if i use T/M to kill all, I can then just tap on the alarm icon on my homescreen and then just close out of it This just puts alarm back in your TM list Not a fix i know, but works for now.

Thanks Can you not whitelist the alarm clock app in yor task killer app? FWIW, having now had my phone for just over a week, and played around for a bit getting familiar with how things work, I don't find I have a need for a task killer, certainly not to autokill tasks. I'm running a stock Orange ROM from which I've manually removed the Orange and Glu APKs (apart from the STK) and my battery life seems to be improving. Since the last charge finished, 12 hours ago, I'm down to 91% battery. That time period includes minor fiddling with the phone and sending one SMS, but mostly unused while I slept. Guest steviem Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 You need a RAIAC.... (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Alarm Clocks) :)
Guest Afrodude Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 If you are using Advanced Task Killer you can setup some apps to be "ignored".
Guest con500 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 If you are using Advanced Task Killer you can setup some apps to be "ignored". Would be good if this option was available in the 'stock' TM. There just seems to be too many conflicting opinions out there on whether to use task killers or not. Some say they cause more damage than good. As a newbie to android i can see how this could confuse other converts to the platform
Guest Afrodude Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 There are loads of things that SHOULD be included in the default package but aren't. To be honest, unless you are a little bit techy i can't see anyone needing to use "Kill All" functions, so i think the basic TM should suffice in killing "laggy" apps.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 1. Set Alarm 2. In Advanced Task Killer set alarm app to "Ignore" 3. ???? 4. Profit (Get to work on time) As a further note I would recommend Alarm Clock Plus: http://www.appbrain.com/app/alarm-clock-pl...rmClockPlusDock At 7am it gradually increases the volume on a random track from the playlist I chose. Give the phone a shake to snooze too.
