Guest Flavio Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 My Streak somehow got completely discharged over night, at least that's what I think happened. I have put it on charge for 2 hours from a separate portable USB battery (Just Mobile Gum Pro) because I have lost my 220V wall charger, but I still can't get it to boot. I know it's charging because the lights on the Gum Pro went from 3 to 2 so the Gum Pro is losing power. Only the three buttons light up when I plug in the battery and it doesn't normally boot or boot into recovery mode. Any tips on how I can get my Streak back to life?
Guest vinokirk Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I think youll need the wall charger. I had the same problem with my old Xperia X1, if you let it get so low it cuts out and wont turn on again, no car charger would charge it, you had to use the wall charger :)
Guest twe Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Yeh its a bit strange this is but I had to use the official Dell one. I tried my HTC Desire usb charger and another mains usb charger and both did not charge it, only after it had some charge left in the battery would the phone let it charge it. Not sure if this is due to the middle 2 pins being shorted or not? I have since created a cable with the 2 middle pins soldered together to make my portable battery charger charge the phone with the original dell usb cable as it refused to let it charge it.

So what you are saying is that you modified the original Dell USB cable and now it works with every USB charger?
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I just use my Dell cable with a bog standard USB wall charger and it charges fine. Even from completely dead..
Guest Wantanothergadget Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Stuck with a dead battery, and hence a dead Streak (Total novice here with a stock 1.6 Android Streak) My new streak (2 days old) was in airplane mode when the battery went flat, now it will not charge, and as the battery is flat I cannot turn it out of airplane mode. When the charger is turned on, the screen comes up saying it cannot charge because it is in airplane mode, and tells me to hold the volume control switch in the lower volume position. Tried this at power on etc, but no luck. Does anyone know how to recover so I can charge my Streak??? Thanks, in anticipation.

I have had some weird problems charging too but not like you with airplane mode. The way I can always fix mine is to unplug from the charger, remove back, remove battery, count to 10, replace battery, replace back, plug back in, wait to charge initially for 2-3 minutes, then turn on. Sometimes when I get a completely dead battery I have to do the above as I can't just plug in and turn back on, I'm not sure why. I am also running 2.1
Guest twe Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 So what you are saying is that you modified the original Dell USB cable and now it works with every USB charger? No I modified a male to female usb cable, then plugged the original Dell usb cable into it and that is what works with my external battery charger. Without the modified cable it did not charge.
Guest Wee Thomas Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I've been having issues recently. I think the original battery is starting to fail. I've bought a 1530mAh replacement/backup. That will probably become the primary. With mine, USB car chargers no longer seem to do that job when the battery is low. Where normally I have about 4 hours of standby around 20% battery life, it now dies in about half that time. If this behavior continues with a new battery, then I will start to suspect a sw/hw issue. For now, I think it's just age.
