Guest spoonium Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Do they even need to make ads for this phone? :)
Guest Eclogue Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Is that a google earth logo I spy? - does google earth work on our SFs (arm6)?
Guest norwici Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Shame that Orange's PAYG and internet allowances are so pants that nearly all the handsets seem to be being unlocked. Subsidising handsets for use on competitive networks doesn't seem the most sensible of business models.

Subsidising handsets for use on competitive networks doesn't seem the most sensible of business models. Hmm, or maybe it does.... How may have unlocked and moved to T-Mobile? With the merger?... Maybe oranges network would not be able to handle all the extra data and they hope that a fair proportion of unlocked phones will end up on the T-Mobile network. Thus generating revenue for the group. Also comes at the same time that the network sharing has come about and LOTS of people now believe the Orange-T-mobile network will be the best one to be on with the most coverage. Probably wrong, but just a thought :) Edited October 8, 2010 by jsplace
Guest Bouncer5 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Seen this in the metro this morning and I sniggered just a tad.
Guest zerosignull Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Paul's review of the phone was enough of an ad for me!
Guest will7201 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Right at the bottom of the page it said in small type: *Why not head on over to MoDaCo.com and pick up 04/Oct r3: Superboot Root + MCRi, and make the most of your new purchase. Will :)
Guest retrend Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 had a wee chuckle when i saw this today :)

Guest hillmie87 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) i saw this today, on one of the billboards in town. woooot. :) Edited October 8, 2010 by hillmie87
Guest Simon O Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 It's like buying a sports car for the price of a scooter... then running out of petrol 5 metres from your home thanks to the generous data cap provided by Orange.
Guest randal24 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 More like the footnote at the bottom should read: "You'll probably root/unlock and put your existing SIM in it, but hey we don't mind. Honest. :)"
Guest Carbonize Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I can see a lot of people buying it for use with the Tesco sim only tariffs. Was in there yesterday and they are doing 400 minutes with unlimited* data and unlimited** texts for only £15 a month and it's a rolling monthly contract so can cancel at any time. *Unlimited data = 500MB **Unlimited texts = 3000 Do wish we could get the disconnecting WiFi issue fixed though.

On tesco mobile site, there offering 500 mins, "unltd" texts and data for £10 a month rolling contract+ if you go through quidco you get £10 cashback

Guest Teasy Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) Well spotted and no it doesn't :) Why do Google only have that for Arm7 based phones? Perhaps they think it'll be too slow on Arm6 (though not all Arm6 CPU's are created equal) but why not let the user decide like with most other apps/games out there? Edited October 18, 2010 by Teasy
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Saw this today whilst browsing http://www.bit-tech.net I'm really happy that Orange are advertising the phone so much and making a big thing out of the price.
Guest Rem1x Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 I've had my adblocker off for a bit, and I've been bombarded with San Fran ads, it's pretty impressive. They are also in the window of every Orange shop I pass. It's pretty damn cool :P

It's pretty damn cool :D It's very damn cool! :P If more and more people buy the phone then we could very well end up with more developers picking up a phone or two for playing with. Which means... lovely roms to play with :P Now can we get Orange to send a free phone to every member of the Cyanogenmod team with a note saying "Port CM6 2 SanFran pls. kthx" :D

And the non-working Google Earth (logo) everywhere in these ads as well.....oppps Orange - lets hope no one either cares nor notices! Personally a great phone at a great price more than compensates for no Google Earth - but you can't beat the irony of Google apps not working on 'Google Android' phones :-D
