Guest wired Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) I just picked up an Australian Optus Streak, which is build 8116. I'm trying to flash the O2 ROM but clockwork mod isn't working - I get the 'famed' black screen problem. Stock, it comes with baseband version GAUSB1A111800-EU, OEM version GAUSB1A111800, build number 8116. Kernel 2.6.29-perf, on firmware 1.6. On the US beta 00 streak, all I had to do was flash ClockworkMod 1.8.1.7, flash the modaco r1 ROM to convert it to a 21 UK device (ignoring the E: can't find MISC errors), flash the stock 4399 recovery, copy the 6941 update (update-6941-21.pkg) as Update.pkg and flash it with the stock recovery. On this one however, flashing any ROM with CWM 1.8.17 gives an assert failed error message: http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/5448/dsc00427sr.jpg It also happens with the modaco r1 1.6 ROM. The Streak is rooted with universal androot. assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot") E:Error in /sdcard/4399-update-streak-stock-root-signed.zip (Status 7) All the other recoveries i've tried don't work, i only get a blank/black screen after selecting the update.pkg option in the streak's initial recovery screen. I've tried: 2.5.0.1-recovery-clockwork-streak.zip recovery-clockwork-streak.img 2.5.0.1-streak-clockworkrecovery.zip recovery.stock.new.rar r1-6941-streak-recovery.zip recovery.alt.img The only two that work are: 1.8.1.7-streak-clockworkrecovery.zip r1-4399-streak-recovery.zip All were flashed with 0x413c. I tried flashing the modaco ROM with the r1-4399 recovery, but I get the same error message: http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/4773/dsc00428si.jpg What could I try? Unfortunately I didn't save the original recovery image. The stock 1.6 still works fine, I just can't flash something else on. Edited October 9, 2010 by wired

Unfortunately I didn't save the original recovery image. The stock 1.6 still works fine, I just can't flash something else on. Same happened to me. Couldnt get ANY combination of images to run due to the boot.img not beng able to be written... so..... eventually.. the only thing i could get working was froyo 2.2 from the thread above and the only way that worked was when I followed the step in the old instructions to flash the baseband using the qualcomm tools. So, it looks like the baseband on the Aussie released streak is completely locked and other 1.6 and 2.1 images wont work until you change the baseband. I'm not an expert, but hope this makes sense. Just follow the OLD instructions in the first post in the 2.2 thread. I would assume that once you have done this, you could then downgrade to 2.1, until they fix the gps. The only thing on 2.2 that doesnt work for me is the gps, but a updated version should come out soon. My camera and market work ok. Hope this helps.
Guest springah Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 hey guys - i spent all night working on the same thing. in the end a superboot flash + the rom build to go with it fixed my asset failed issues. now with a stock recovery im able to flash any .pkg file no drama. STILL cant get clockwork to work tho. will contact dev when i get shitty enough at it. now running 2.2 rooted with universal. universal root breaks the rom if you dont flash a new baseband using qtools. @springah
Guest springah Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 um. erase recovery then flashing the latest clockwork seemed to fix my non-working clockwork issue? testing a nandroid backup right now...
Guest wired Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 so..... eventually.. the only thing i could get working was froyo 2.2 from the thread above Ahh... I didn't dare try it without being able to do a nandroid backup first, but since it worked for you, I did it and hurrah, it works for me too! I haven't tried everything out yet, but so far so good. My touchdown key doesn't appear in my downloads list though, i'll play around with the fingerprint a bit later. um. erase recovery then flashing the latest clockwork seemed to fix my non-working clockwork issue? testing a nandroid backup right now... Sounds good ... I might do that later if this ROM plays up.
Guest zliu205 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 hey guys, I'm on optus Streak as well, and after trying to root this machine, using the super root method in this forum, my streak bricked... every time when I try to flash the rom, no matter it is 6941, 4399 or 8105, none of them worked... Can you please tell me which rom i should use to at least allow me to turn on the machine and start making phone calls...... Very much appreciated!!
Guest zliu205 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 finally find that this worked: http://dellstreakhacks.com/dell-streak-lea...we-have-it.html ...
Guest popetodd Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 finally find that this worked: http://dellstreakhacks.com/dell-streak-lea...we-have-it.html ... That's Staves Rom. It is located here at Modaco. Streakhacks tried to pull a fast one.

Guest promotersinc Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Have you tried going into the recovery screen and doing a Factory Reset? worth a shot.. yes tried that no good, what i have done is flashed it to 6941 yet mine is 8116 build and now its bricked. ive rung dell they gave me the run around and said contact optus who you bought it from which i did they then told me to go to dell....all full of s*** at least with blackberry for eg i can download the os i require. I only found 2.1 eclair on the dell site and links dont work, no links to 1.6 and noone knows whats going on, very dissapointed in dell, all i need is the recovery image 8116 build and i think i can fix it but that doesnt seem to exist, except on the phones themselves. in dire straights here! im trying the other referal on whirlpool but geez it looks complicated
Guest wired Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) im trying the other referal on whirlpool but geez it looks complicated It looks complicated, but it's actually easier than it looks! If you're already able to flash stuff, you already have fastboot set up right? Just go straight to flashing the bootloader with QDL, then flashing the three IMG files with fastboot. I agree... at first I was sorta intimated with the 1st set of instructions for Beta 1 of Froyo, only to find its even easier than flashing other ROMs. The only hard part is making sure you got the right driver, after that its all the same commands when flashing the 3 files. Give it a whirl... Did you also try flashing Modaco's 1.6 R1?

Guest Cue_32 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 are you referring to this method? http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1557150 YUP... the flashing of the 3 image files was the instructions for Beta 1. QDL tool is a little tricky to find the drivers but on my Windows 7, when prompted to select driver, (browse my computer\Let me pick\Show all devices) one of the manufacturer was Qualcomm. Just pick the right one provided by the instructions.

The new update.zip method will not work as it requires the phone to be on 2.1 first. Mac? no idea sorry. :)
