Guest jdtanner Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Hi all, So I contacted @ConnorFromOrange and emailed ZTE direct regarding the compilation issues surrounding the kernel source for the Blade. However, there hasn't been any response yet, so has anyone else had any luck? John
Guest Simon O Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Hi all, So I contacted @ConnorFromOrange and emailed ZTE direct regarding the compilation issues surrounding the kernel source for the Blade. Guest rjm2k Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Not heard anything back from anyone I emailed, I think they have gone through the motions of releasing the kernel and that will be that, I doubt they understand why they have to release it or why it should work. Hopefully someone will get us to a stage where we don't need zte anymore by porting froyo without their kernel. On the other hand zte did release an update for the bluebelt so fingers crossed on that one, but source I doubt we will get a working version from them
Guest spoonium Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Maybe contact http://gpl-violations.org/ to see if they can help?
Guest rjm2k Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Looks liks the source they released is for the R750 and P726N phones, there is a flag in the Blade .config (CONFIG_MACH_BLADE) which doesn't exist anywhere in the source they provided which is why it won't compile.

Guest Aquilo Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 connor seems to no longer exist? never could get on with that twitter rubbish! http://twitter.com/conorfromorange It's only a single 'n', hence the missing profile. I've sent messages to the account concerning the source too, but I naturally didn't expect a response over the weekend.

Guest Rem1x Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) Lets be clear - Do we want a clean version of the Blade source - Or are we after a Orange branded version - or do we not care? Clean is best, Orange branded will do if needs must :) Edited October 10, 2010 by Rem1x
Guest fluxcapacitor Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I dont think it matters, any kind of working source code is helpful and anything Froyo (android 2.2) related would be handy :)
Guest rjm2k Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I work for Orange UK and sit next to the guy who deals with the ROM for the blade - What do you want? We need the source for the linux kernel which was released with the sanfrancisco in the uk. ZTE have released source which they say was for the blade/sanfrancisco but it wasn't the correct source and will not compile with the configuration for that phone. Just to be clear, there is a phone called the Blade in china which is slightly different to the sanfrancisco in the UK, it's the source which was used for the kernel present in the uk version that we need. Thanks
Guest awarner Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 The Kernal source can be found in this topic HERE Please continue over in that topic.
