Unresponsive screen when brought out of sleep?

I'm frequently having a problem with unlocking the screen when bringing the SF out of sleep/standby. The unlock symbol appear, but pressing the screen has no effect, it just goes back to black again after a few seconds. I have to try it multiple times, and eventually the phone becomes responsive again.

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

How is your CPU usage? (Check using OS Monitor).

Thanks for the response. I've installed OS Monitor. I'm a little concerned that the app itself is using 20-35% of CPU time by itself!!

Thats not a problem. What is the overall system CPU usage?

It varies between 20% and 65%. Of course, I can't see what CPU use is at when the problem occurs.

I get the same, but only when plugged into my cheapo wall USB charger.

Once unplugged it's fine.

It does the same with mine and my brother's SF.

I take it yours does it when it's not plugged in ?

I took mine back to the shop and got it replaced. It appears to be a hardware problem. There were also times when I'd press one part of the screen but it would detect in another location.

Hmm these are bad news, since I cannot exchange the phone easily (I had it sent abroad). Well, if it was a hardware problem, why would it happen just after bringing the phone out of sleep? It never happened to me when the phone was running or was in sleep mode for a short time. Jut for my information, what ROM were you on?

It started off just happening when bringing the phone out of sleep, but it got worse, and worse, until the screen was unresponsive 50-60% of the time. It didn't matter what ROM I tried, Paul's or the standard Orange one.

Hmm, looks like I have to hope that in my case it gets better, not worse.. today everything seems to be just fine, but I hate the feeling of knowing that somethimg is not right with my phone...:)

An update on the issue: It seems that the issue is, that the screen doesn't return the vertical position correctly when the problem occurs. Today, it happened when the phone was charging (so it actually wasn't in sleep mode, just the screen was off, so after tapping the power button, the phone was already on a homescreen). I was able to flick through my homescreens, but I couldn't select any icon. Upon a long press anywhere on the screen, the "Add to Home screen" menu appeared, but no matter where I tapped, it always selected "Shortcuts".

Does anyone have a clue, what might be the problem? Could it really be a hardware problem (bad digitizer?) or software problem?
