Guest miker71 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Ok, I am very impressed with the current status of the "apply by update.zip" Froyo beta. After the build.prop update there's seems to be no major loss of functionality that I can detect, nothing that makes me want to rollback to 2.1 - anything I could "complain" about would be mere nitpicking or part of feedback for the RC. My question is, the earlier method of installing Froyo involved flashing the baseband - I'm assuming baseband is not flashed with the update.zip? However, with an unlocked UK Streak, is there any advantage for me to also flash the baseband? Or - should this be a case of if it aint broke don't fix it? :-) Development has been awesome, very much looking forward to a fully fledged CyanogenMod build - this Froyo beta is a fantastic start.
Guest BooToo Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Based on what I have read when I updated my Nexus One, flashing the baseband has nothing to do with locked or unloked phones. It is just required for the new version of Android to communicate correctly with the "Phone modem" used to establish GSM, GPRS, 3G but lets get someone else more skilled confirm or deny that...
