Guest rinkrat Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Hi All, Followed the instructions to be able to use your own tones as ringtones and notifications. ie Media folder on SD with Ringtones and Notification Folders inside containing tones. Now I want to change my notification from a custom one I cannot. I have even deleted the custom one from the folder and the phone has reverted to a basic blip tone even though I have selected other notification tones. PS my phone is as purchased but unlocked. Not yet had the confidence to root or custom ROM. Please can anyone advise. Thanks
Guest oh!dougal Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Perhaps you should remove your recently created and now empty 'Notifications' folder? (So its not got an empty folder to search for something to use.) Then, have you tried a reboot? Power off, remove battery, count to 10 (or even have a cup of coffee). Insert battery and restart. BTW, did you spot that on page 99 of the manual there is an easy way to set a 'song' as a ringtone? And page 118 describes how to revert ALL settings to factory default. A bit dramatic, but it ought to fix the problem! Might be good to post what eventually works for you!

Guest rinkrat Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks will give these a try ! Only a factory reset fixed the tones. Bit of a b*gger as now I can't get my MMS set up again even with 2 seperate APN's ! Anyone can post the giffgaff settings that work I would be most grateful ? Just hope my tones don't mess up again ! Still looking for a solution without the factory reset !

I always use the "Ringdroid" app to set my notification tones Open ringdroid, select the desired track, "edit", "save", notification, set as default notification Had to do that with the Pulse as that "create a folder" never worked.. Not ideal but it works :) Though I doubt it will ever solve the problem above but it certainly won't create it :)
Guest xzyk Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 hi, there is a solution, but it is not fast. 1. Via a file explorer go to Phone---system---media---audio and you'll see the 4 different directories that contain all your default tones. For example, alarms contains the alarm notifications, notifications contains SMS, MMS etc...you get the picture. 2. Now, the tones are all in ogg format so create yourself whatever tones you want (e.g. download a freeware converter to convert from mp3 to ogg). 3. Once you completed your collection use root Explorer and go back to the appropriate directory on the phone in 1. Copy your collection of ogg files to the appropriate directories. Note: you need to mount the directory as RW before you can do this. If all that works out fine, you need to then reboot and your new notifications will be in the selection menu, just like the default ones. Alternatively if you've already loaded MCRi and clockwordmod you can simply take your Paul r3 modified rom (update.zip), unzip it and add your ogg files to the zip file that way. Once finished adding, re-open the update.zip to make sure your ogg files have indeed gone in the right directories. Now just use recovery mode to load update.zip as if doing a normal rom upgrade. :)
