Guest Asselberghs Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Hi Guys:) My HTC Desire is rooted and running MCR R8 rom, currently I have a custom boot screen with an Android peaking up from the button of the screen. Then I saw the boot animation from the Droid 2 Starwars edition and thought hey thats so cool:D I tried to replace the bootanimation zip file as I recalled I had to do normally but I was unable to get it to recognize it. Then I used adb to put it onto the phone and then the animation worked. But the bootup sound was still standard HTC rather than R2D2´s cute little robo noises. At first I had placed the .ogg sound file with it´s original R2D2droid something filename beside the places where I originally put or tried to put the animation zips. And where I forced the zip in with ADB when it worked. No results there, still standard HTC boot sound. then I renamed it to android_audio or whatever it´s called. Basicly took the filename for what I presumed to be the HTC boot sound and replaced it, in all the boot locations I could find and where I´d placed the zip with ADB. Still nothing, alright then I thought, the android_audio file was an MP3 file, so I converted the file to be an MP3. And still nothing. Where is the boot animation supposed to reside in the phone? And what bout the boot sound? and what format and name does it need? And why diden´t the sym linking work? IIRC I´ve always placed it as a zip called bootanimation.zip in the root of the SD card. I´m a bit confused, and I´m afraid I´ve forgotten the trick to change boot screens, and before you say so, yes I know there´s apps to replace bootscreens, but IIRC it´s a specific selection and I´d like just to know the details for how to do it myself. Be it by simple drag and drop, which I know have worked before, on my windows box or through ADB. Thanks in advance guys:) Kind Regards Asselberghs
