Is it possible http proxy for wifi?

Hi all

I've been searching the net for a couple of hours now and I cant seem to get proxy working on the LG GT540. It's been rooted and runs Android 2.1. I've tried using proxysettings application, but to no avail. I've also tried to change some settings in browser using the SDK, but it appears the instructions are out of date as I get a syntax error. I've also tried using Firefox Fennec, but the application doesnt even run, it just opens and goes back to the screen after a second or so.

Is there a way to make this work?

I wouldnt mind if I could connect through the PCs internet connection, but Android doesnt support ad-hoc wifi networks.

I'm a bit stumped by it all and wondered if anyone had successfully managed this in the Optimus?

im in the same boat.

you need a netfilter enabled kernal, i.e a custom rom in the case of the GT540. Why there is no proxy support to begin with is beyond me...
