Audio Streams fubar on the Blade?

I'm using an app called Exertime on my Blade. It allows me to select the audio stream I want to use from Music, Alarm or Notification. So far, so good.

The problem I'm experiencing is that even when headphones are connected, if I choose Alarm or Notification the sound comes out of the loudspeaker.

My deduction is that there is either a bug in or a misconfiguration of the sound daemon. Can anyone please shed some light on this?
