I extremely doubt that this will ever happen.

Your best bet is CyanogenMod

I think that there is a slim chance of this happening. Back when t-mobile pulled the 2.1 update they promised us a thurther update in October (now!), and it could be 2.2 which would be great from our point of view (.32 kernel, making it slightly easier to port cm)

If T-mobile know anything about their community they wont bother releasing another 2.1 update because noone would give a monkey.

So theres also a possiblity that they will give up and we wont see an update atall caus they know about TOM Gs epicness or we will get a 2.1 which noone will care about.

Perhaps it would be worth bugging them on Twitter to see if they will release the update?
