activesync 3.6 backup/restore option greyed out

just installed activesync 3.6 on a win XP Pro laptop. Sees and synchronises the Orange SPV fine. However, what I really want to do is backup the phone to the computer. But, when I go to the "Tools" menu on activesync, most of the items including "backup/restore" are greyed out and cannot be used.

Is this a standard "feature" of using activesync with the SPV?

If I try to do a manual copy of files from the SPV to the computer, I get errors saying file is locked or file is in use (relating to files on the SPV).

Help!!! I would really like to backup the phone as I have found it a bit flaky so far.

You can't back up the phone with Active Sync. This option is available for Pocket PCs that use Active Sync, so maybe in a future version...
