Guest bbawden Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Hi I just installed the latest Beta of Firefox, from here. I got a notification that the phone was running low on memory. I looked in storage and only had 9MB left of internal phone memory! So I'm pretty sure that APPS2SD isn't working properly. Can someone advise the best way to: 1) check whether it's set up properly 2) if not, the easiest way to get it working, preferably without having to do a wipe I'm running MCR r9. Thanks.

Do you mean the default Froyo App2sd of A2SD+ from the kitchen ? If it's the second, just install Quick System Info from the market and check all your internal and SD memory. Also, do you have an Ext3 partition ?

I'm pretty sure I partitioned the card OK. It's definitely not working properly, as I uninstalled Firefox, which was listed as around 30MB, and my internal memory increased by that amount. I installed Quick System Info and it reports the following: SD - Total:GB, Free: 5.96GB A2SD - Total: 0.89GB, Free 628MB Internal - Total: 148MB, Free: 34.51MB System - Total: 250MB, Free: 62.3MB System cache - Total: 40MB, Free: 19.5MB So it looks like some stuff is going into APPS2SD. Any ideas?
Guest bbawden Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 (edited) I just checked my partition in parted under abd shell, and I have a 1GB ext3 in position 2, with the remainder of the space as FAT32 in position 1. That should be fine I think, so not sure why it's not putting the apps onto the SD card. Maybe rebaking and reflashing would fix it? Edited October 11, 2010 by bbawden
Guest Calamity James Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I don't know if it helps, but I found that Firefox was using a ridiculous amount of internal memory, even with a2sd installed. Once I uninstalled it the problem went away, I haven't even considered trying Firefox since: http://twitpic.com/2kbxvl

Not all is moved by APPS2SD+, if Firefox uses huge libraries installed under /data/data as e.g. Navigon does, this will never be moved to SD card. Deinstall Firefox and you are fine :-)
