Guest chris9181 Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Mine is on auto at the mo so it dims and brightens depending on conditions. I wondered if this was more of a drain on battery than having the brightness set static? Cheers Chris

Cheers Chris Yes, since in some instances it will make the screen brighter than the static value you would have selected.
Guest Carbonize Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I've actually turned the brightness right down on my partners as it's still very legible.
Guest kissofjudas Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) I've actually turned the brightness right down on my partners as it's still very legible. legible - the thing is, that during assessment and testing of a phone the screen and its brightness is one of the main things discussed and commented on - Witness the HTC Wildfire - Usual comment great phone for the cost but the screen lets it down, so if we need to Dull the screen down to make the battery last and in doing so reduce the ethereal experince of gazing at the screen, let me follow that lemming Damn the Battery Drain - pass the Champers and lets Live the Dream!!!!!!!!!! Guest Carbonize Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Well that's a lot of words to say nothing. Anyway I turned it right down because if you have it up high the colours look weird, a bit to bright. You will find with you don't really need much brightness so 40% should be adequate.
Guest crumplycord Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 when using my HTC magic had the brightness right down to 20-25% and found it perfectly comfortable to use, but with this LED screen at those levels I find it significantly brighter so have turned down to about 10-15% may need to adjust on sunnier days but in the UK when does that happen.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Low brightness = cash in bank (saves battery) Mine's on 25%, I put it to max and lost my left eye from retina burn. Too bright. I would say go as low as you're comfortable with.
