Well I was all set to take the plunge and get some some Froyo goodness on my phone when this latest setback occured - namely, my phone no longer recognises when it's plugged in.

First thing I noticed was on Saturday morning when I unplugged it from being on charge overnight. As I pulled out the cable my Streak began to continuously vibrate. It was completely unresponsive and I had to remove the battery to deal with it (first time in about a month with this new unit which replaced a previous, faulty one). Now I don't know if that was in any way related but then, yesterday, it felt different somehow when I plugged it in for the first time since that incident and it took several attempts before the icon changed to show it was plugged in and charging (all of this via the mains, so far).

Today, after downloading all the necessary files and having read over and over the excellent posts and what I need to do to upgrade, I plugged it in to my pc and nothing. Ten minutes fruitless fiddling later I tried plugging it into the mains - still no joy.

Spent the best part of 2 hours visiting my nearest O2 store only to discover they have no Streaks or Streak cables in stock for me to test with. So my question: Anyone else had a problem with the connector? As the socket has always felt a bit iffy I've been assuming it's that which is at fault but the weird vibrating issue makes me think there could have been something else at play...

maybe the cable, several people have reported theirs dying.

speak to CS tell them the local store didnt have one to test, can they send you a replacement cable ?

Haha! Didn't think of that. Has anyone managed to get a new cable as easily as that, I wonder? As I'd considered the very real possibility of having to return it for repair/replacement anyway I decided to do a factory reset which seems to have worked. So perhaps that vibrating business did snafu the software somehow. I'm still not 100% convinced, though. The connector is so clunky and it feels less "snug" than before. It's a design detail I hope they address in future implementations of PDMI.
