Guest oernii Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I wan to modify my boot image. However, when I split the dumped original image (~3MB) and reassemble it with mkbootimg it is quite smaller. Only 2,2MB in fact. One splitting tool gave me a warning about a possible 3rd part besides the kernel and initrd. What could that be, and do I need it? Will my phone work when i flash the yet unmodified new boot image? than you for you time.

And if you're not up to that type of experimentation I'd leave modifying the boot image :) Alternatively, why not just use this all in one splash/boot/recovery tool? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
Guest Mekerz Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?titl...ack_Boot_Images Some info I read earlier. Have you looked into AnyKernel by Koush? :)
Guest oernii Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?titl...ack_Boot_Images this is exactly what I have read. Unfortunatelly no explanation whatsoever about the 3rd part of the boot image. I will have to try it ;-) @BashyUK I want to create some special mounts, dirs & config files. no animations etc ;-) My phone has already CMrecovery and root.
