Guest crawler9 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Hello, I'm using R24 of Paul's Desire port to the N1, and I like I a lot. I seem to be very limited in space on /data though. I've heard one way to get more space on the data partition is to move the dalvik cache. From what I've read, if there's room, I'd rather move it to the cache partition but my SD card is Class 6 so that wouldn't be too bad either. Could someone review the benefits of each to see if I've missed something and give me instructions to move the dalvik cache? I've already searched around a lot but everything points me to a cynogenmod Wikipedia page that no longer exists. I've also tried using DarkTremor apps2sd but the update.zip encountered a failure which I have been led to believe means it's incompatible with this ROM. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! Cheers! crawler9 Sent from my Nexus. Edited October 12, 2010 by crawler9
Guest mikedm Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I haven't gone down the reformatting SD card route as I've found most of the big apps tend to allow you to move them to the SD through the program options. A great way to manage this is the App 2 SD app from AZSoft - it's free and allows you to see which apps support being moved and allows you to move them through the app. Well worth a try before you start messing around with partitioning cards.

Thanks for the response, Mike. I've already messed around with this and determined its just not good enough for me. I have a big apps like Skype that don't allow moving to SD yet. That's pretty fail in my opinion, but some apps are essential to me anyway. Cheers! crawler9 Sent from my Nexus.

It's pretty easy to do via ClockWork recovery (I think with Amon_ra recovery as well). Just copy the contents of your sdcard to your comp, partition and reformat, and then copy everything back over. Also, I think you have to have the r24 baked with A2SD script... Edited October 12, 2010 by Co.Ag.05

Also, I think you have to have the r24 baked with A2SD script... I just did this as well. I use clockwork recovery with another N1 ROM and flashed the a2sd script to the n1. I did it wrong the first time and took the SD card out and formatted it to ext3 on my linux laptop. After determining this would not work since the card could not be mounted, I did the formatting and file system creation within the clockwork recovery screens. The basic process, thanks to XDA and @Dictionary there on the N1 forums worked well for me. Here's the link to that forum post. Here is hopefully the link to what I did: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...;postcount=1274 There are two reboots in this and you have to "su" to root to make it work or at least I did.
Guest crawler9 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 All is working well for me now that I baked in the a2sd+ script in the r24 kitchen. Cheers! crawler9 Sent from my Nexus.
Guest Jason Patel Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Crawler if the app does not support moving to SD card you can force it with a simple ADB command. "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2" Full details here http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...ps-to-sd-froyo/ Thanks for the response, Mike.
