Guest Noonski Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) The Issue: A few Faithful MoDaCo users are bored and need a bit more excitement. And I have to give back to the place that helped me get my Android Groove on. The Philosophy: There must be users out there that just want a simple Base ROM on which they can install whatever they want and once in a while just flash an update without the need to Wipe and restore all over again. The Solution: There are no ROM's that fit my needs. So I had my own personal stripped down and slightly skinned MoDaCo ROM. And why not share it in the way that I strip, change an customize it. The Difference between the regular N.S.A Build: Brushed Metal Skinned Status bar and batery Icons Brushed Metal LauncherPro 0.8.1.0 (Choose the Glass Launcher in settings to get Chrome Bar) Brushed Metal FancyWidget All the usual applies, do a NanDroid, 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23 Radio suggested. (myself I like 32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2 better) Do a Full Wipe IF Rom doesn't boot @ First Flash. (Hopefully your last Wipe Ever) And a partitioned SD card with Fat32 Partition First, Second a Ext3/4 << Partition, and a small or empty Linux-Swap partition at the end. The Download: N.S.A.Brushed.2010-10-12.FF.zip (First Flash) (Device Free Memory somewhere around 134MB which you won't need anyway as you'll be using A2SD+ anyway but internal Memory will get SMALLER when you install to Ext3/4 anyway) If you already have an FF or a Previous UPD version installed that you are upgrading from you can skip right to the latest UPD version. The Update: Changelog N.S.A.Brushed.2010-11-16.UPD(Updated with Wifi Fx) (If You are one of the unlucky 50 first with Wifi Not Working QuickFix Just Flash over This) Changed Memory settings to: FOREGROUND_APP_MEM 3584 VISIBLE_APP_MEM 4096 SECONDARY_SERVER_MEM 6144 HOME_APP_MEM 8192 HIDDEN_APP_MEM 7168 CONTENT_PROVIDER_MEM 7680 EMPTY_APP_MEM 8192 Moved several system apps to data, so these can be removed if you don't want these. But it still frees up at least 7MB on system partition Moved Apps: Keyboard Calibration HTC_IME Modv27 for F22 FriendStream HTC Album HTC Mail Plugin Manager (needed for Friend-stream, so if not using Friend-stream it can also be removed) Also added to data/app: Gallery3D, HtcCarPanel, kickback, Android Music, soundback & talkback. These can be removed and will not be in future UPDates (will be moved to FF for the First Flashers looking for more Fullness in their live) Changelog N.S.A.Brushed.2010-10-13.UPD Only a Small framework Update and removing of the Data/App's (Only flash if your already are running N.S.A.Brushed.2010-xx-xx.FF.zip and never Wipe when using an Update, that's what the update is for, to save you from wiping) N.S.A.Brushed.2010-10-11.UPD.zip (Update, does not contain Setup Wizards. Also No Maps, Voice Search, Voice Dialer, AdFree, APN Backup & Launcher, these where installed to your A2SD Ext partition anyway, so you can remove them if you see fit) Only Flash the Update Zip if you are already running a N.S.A.Brushed.2010-xx-xx.FF.zip or N.S.A.Brushed.2010.xx.xx.UPD.zip. You should never need to Wipe anything when you flash an upd.zip. But still a NanDroid sometimes doesn't hurt. And to be on the safe side always have an APNBackup on your SD card (you only need one) FAQ is in Post #3 Extra Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Media Download. For on the Root of Your SD Card. Original Ringtones, Alarms and Notifications. Wallpapers From Android, Droid 2R2D2, Droid X, eBoy, G2, Galaxy S, HTC, LG Optimus, Nexus One, Nokia N900, Palm Pre, Wood Textures. You can off course delete wallpapers you don't like from this collection. To Put It Simply, This ROM IS Almost BAREBONES except for the Chrome Additions and really needed important/helpful apps. If it's not there, install it, it's what the market and freedom of choice is for. Most Credits and thanks go to Paul @ Modaco on which Rom's this ROM was Sourced from. Richard Tripp for the Uvoc Kernel. Sub501 for extra Mod's. But hey I learned and changed a lot since the start of this ROM. If any one feels like helping out in any way (like more skinning or debugging and whatever I'm not good at) feel free to extend a hand. Other Versions, radio's, And installable removed .apk's http://www.mediafire.com/?8e3at49eh07x8 Non skinned even smaller version @ XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790603 The Screenshots: Edited November 16, 2010 by Noonski

Guest Noonski Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) My Suggestions of Apps to replace some of the HTC Stuff * WallPapers >> Flikkie Wallpapers HD Or AppBrain OTA Wallpapers * RingToneTrimmer >> RingDroid * Google Talk >> Nimbuzz * HTC Streaming Player >> Flikie HD Wallpapers can take care of this to. (if I'm right) * HTC Music >> Mort Player + MortAudioBook PLayer + Mort Widget. * FaceBook >> FaceBook (Or Just LauncherProPlus) * FlashLight >> QuickSettings (has a nice FlashLight Options and is a great CommManager to reach from virtually any screen in notification area) * Peep >> Twitter or LauncherPro+ * World Clock >> AlarmClockPlus V2 Other recommendations that you do not need to install: Shootme Astro FileManager RomManager Instant Heart Rate Monitor FAQ Q: My screen colour looks weird after flashing this? A: Use the Calibration Settings App to adjust it to your liking. Q: I cannot update Google Maps & Google Voice Search? A: Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> All Aplications >> App >> Delete Data >> Wipe Cache >> Force Close >> Remove App >> Install From Market. Q: How do I re-ad or ad another Battery Mod/Theme? A: Check this post for instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9&postcount=42 Q: How should i partition my SD Card for the Ext3 version of A2SD+? A: http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news...droid-apps2sd/ Q: Does this rom Support Ext4 partitions in A2SD+ A: It Does now Q: Is possibile use SetCPU? A: Yes, and/but it also has the Screen off Governer to scale down to 245MHZ with screen off. And you can only Underclock, there's no kernel used to overclock. Edit it5 does have Uvoc Kernel now. Q: When I Go to Settings >> Personalize >> Scenes, Settings Crashes? A: There's no Sense, so hence these settings will not work. Edited October 12, 2010 by Noonski
Guest BashyUK Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Hi, Respect for doing the work, I have a question though, purely out of curiosity: What's the differece between this 'base' Sense ROM and say Alex-V or LeeDroid? It's just I see so many ROM's and struggle sometimes to see the difference.

It's just I see so many ROM's and struggle sometimes to see the difference. It's a lot smaller and a bit snappier because of it. (Removed a lot of Bloat and unnecessary Libraries) It doesn't have most the apps that those have. It has a different skin. It's based on the Best Rom around (MCR) It has no Sense :) I Make absolutely sure that any future updates do not require Wipes and restores. I try not to force any apps unless they are really necessary. They are far better cooks with much more followers. I will not remove your custom boot animation or sound when you use an Update. Guest FatherD Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Looks very very good Noonski ... nice work :)

Nice. and a big doh! for assuming it was Sense (I somehow skipped screenshots on first glance!) Looks like my next ROM is in the queue. In a few weeks though. Thanks again.
Guest shokka9 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Might give this a blast later, looks right up my street. I too use a stripped down version of Pauls....no sense, no HTC apps, mostly everything removed. So i will test drive this methinks. Thanks. Just waiting for Paul to update R10 (on new base) with kitchen to make LITE ROM.. Thanks bro, i miss your country, lived there for a bit (worked too) awesome is the only word to describe the NL :)

Thanks bro, I miss your country, lived there for a bit (worked too) awesome is the only word to describe the NL :) Everything Extra I have added is in Data\App so that shouldn't be to big a hassle for you then :) I left in the HTC Mail because I previously got a request for it's good Exchange support. If your Running MCR, most probably you will not need to wipe.
Guest shokka9 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 @ noonski Lovely jubbly.... Thanks for your quick interaction!! :)
Guest shokka9 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Just flashed noonski's sleek build :-) Good work bro, no wipes, was on mcr R9 beta from the kitchen with minimal additions. Guest bpivk Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 shokka isn't it time to change the old profile image from Omnia forums into something more ummm robotic? :)
Guest Noonski Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) shokka isn't it time to change the old profile image from Omnia forums into something more ummm robotic? :) Yeah maybe something like an android with a WM logo :) Had a nice Concert just now, and on the way I found this NSA version did have the correct audioflinger to interact with the DSPManager. I've been successfully updating without Wipes since R4 unless I F-ed up somewhere myself. And Hey if you want UVOC on your own personal, slimmed R9WIP rom, just take the boot.img from N.S.A and the lib files in \lib\modules\ from Richard Trip's Download at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801435 Since I have been the biggest Rom Flashing Amateur since 2003 I have no problem admitting I had the very simple process of Koush's RomManagers Nandroid/Backup Function to get me a working Boot.img/kernel from Richard's Source/Update file. Guest shokka9 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Hey bro :) Made an attempt last year (merge the Droid with W$ logo), didn't like it. Needs updating tho, I use all devices tho iPhone, Android n Windows (when I get WP7) n one day will make something for them all. Had htc hero a while back, bit too small n dated really for their time. Still ok tho :-) Might change my profile pic to my headphones, so I not biased in any way. But i like my robot.....some people made this, i combination of artists (u kno who u are :)) :-) Edited October 12, 2010 by shokka9

I'd kill for some Working SRS action on the Desire.
Guest Madeli Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Gonna try this one... just out of curiosity... :)
Guest shokka9 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 sorry Noonski, kinda hijacked your thread about my profile pic... Just knocked that up on my lunch using Paint on an XP machine....looks ok, bit small, will do it properly tonight whilst Jail breaking my iPhone 4 on 4.1... Fun & games every night!! Your ROM is nice, fast, very stable too. :)
Guest Noonski Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) I actually never met un unstable Rom yet. It's nice to hear they do exist :) I just made a flashable small update for those that want to wake with power Button to: http://www.mediafire.com/file/8d7omc5zr6rv...kPad_Unlock.zip Edited October 13, 2010 by Noonski
Guest shokka9 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 good work, i keep the trackpad for wake only. I thought u kept the 'dont let menu key unlock device'?? Not major important bro, so dont go making me a .zip :) Take it easy bro!
Guest Noonski Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 ChangeLog N.S.A.Brushed.2010-10-13.UPD: Moved and Symlinked bravo-keypad.kl & framework-res.apk to data/local so when replacing these an UPDate will not overwrite these when you change them. (You still need to replace these through an flashable .zip file) Replaced libaudioflinger.so for working DSPManager
Guest shokka9 Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Good Work Noonski (Just don't like seeing this thread all the way down here - now its top)
Guest ShrugZ Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Will get my new 16GB card these days, and was looking for a senseless, fast and stable ROM. I may think i`ve found it :)
Guest Noonski Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Doing a Replace Colour for the Battery to Match some of the other Blue HD Graphics incorporated in the current theme on my device. Don't know wether to go with the Blue one or the grey scale one :P The grey scale version is a bit harder to see the actual battery but the numbers help a bit.
Guest ShrugZ Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Hell yes, this is by far the snappiest ROM i`ve tried so far! And it comes with LP too, the best launcher out there! This is it, mye favourite ROM. Thx. to Noonski :P
