Guest DaneelS Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) The charging time for the SF over USB when connected to a computer is very long for me, but much faster when using the plug that came with the phone. I'd like to keep one plug in the house, and another at work. I went hunting for another plug, but most seem to supply 1A @ 5V, when the ZTE charger that comes with the phone supplies 0.7A @ 5V. Does anyone know of a USB plug that supplies the correct current? Thanks :) Edit - It looks like a blackberry charger, something like one for the 8520 should be good, though I haven't confirmed what the spec. is yet. Edited October 12, 2010 by DaneelS
Guest hauiyub Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) USB from host is only 500 mA. As I remember. Could be more, depends on you hub/mb/card etc. So it doesn't have to be a problem with your USB cable. But check for this issue: USB cable connector, no good That increases the charge time, as the voltage drops (with more resistance). Edited October 12, 2010 by hauiyub

A pc is normally limited to a lot less.. so the charging time will be increased. In theory the greater the amps the power supply plug can provide would mean that the components are of a higher rating / quality (but its only a theory.. lol) So 1A is fine.
Guest laag Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 1 Amp is fine anyhow. The battery is rated at 1250mAh and a 1amp supply would be charging the battery at a rate of 0.8C. 1C is considered normal and would take 1 hour to fully charge.
Guest Davie1888 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I use a samsung tocco ultra s8300 charger on mine, same voltage
Guest hauiyub Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) You could use a USB cable with two type A connectors. (Like for those 2.5" external HDDs.) (Huawei Long 82 Cm Mini USB ASSISTANT POWER Data Cable) But note that this cable won't fit, because it should be one with a micro-b connector. Edited October 13, 2010 by hauiyub
Guest The Soup Thief Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I'm forever misplacing chargers or forgetting them when I'm travelling so was looking for a few extra USB -> microUSB B cables Found these - proper bargain Gonna buy a few so I don't get caught short again...
