R4'd last night, everything went smoothly as always and I'm most impressed with the performance increase. However, I appear to have lost all data connections over cellular. Tried deleting/recreating the APN, and disabling/enabling the data connections and I just get "Connection Failed" - this is the same in 2G/3G. Any ideas? :)

Should have said this is on Vodafone, using APN settings:

Name: internet

User: web

Pass: web

Sorted, combination of deleting/creating APN, restarting phone and data connections. Weird though. Just hope it's not connected to the wifi issue, as that appeared to be resolved overnight as I connected automatically after sleep - but it died again this morning whilst I was getting ready for work. :)

No problems with 3G on R4 for myself. I am using a manually created Virgin Mobile 3G APN.

Do you need to manually create an APN for 4G with Vodaphone - I would of thought there was a built in profile ?

Cheers, Nick

Yeah it's all sorted now, just some weirdness going on with the APNs and data connections not starting. I'll keep an eye on it, but it looks like it was a red herring.

Cheers :)

No, I wasn't losing it. Restarted the phone again last night, and no radio data connection would work. Had to delete and recreate the APN, then restart radio (airplane mode on/off) for it to pick it up. I've also lost my SIM today, had to punch the unlock code back in to get it back up.

Anyone else suffering with radio stability on r4?

Hi randal,

I have two SF's on r3 both running similar apps and on Tesco sims. One had radio instability as you described and the other was working perfectly. Swapping sims between phones made no diff which suggested to me there was something in particular causing the issue in the phone rom installation.

In the end, I wiped the phone's data and cache, reinstalled r3 and now no more radio instability...

I hope that helps.

Hmm, OK I'll try reapplying r4 again and see if that helps.

How did you wipe data/cache?

Cheers for the reply chap.

You'll see two options in clockworkmodrecovery, something along the lines of wipe the data/factory reset & wipe cache partitions.

Note, if you do this you lose all settings, apps, data etc

I didn't try just a reinstall, maybe that might fix the issue without the need to wipe.

OK, bit brutal but if it's necessary...

If I was to do a backup in Clockwork before I blew everything away I guess the restore would put the data/cache back as it was before? Or does backup not cover these areas?

Not tried it myself, but from what I've read it backs up everything including installed apps... Let us know how you get on
