Ok guys a quick bit of advice would be appreciated as this is the first time I am gonna be flashing an android device, ususall a winmo man.

I want to put Pauls Modaco custom rom on my phone, http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...chen-2-2-froyo/ ,

It is an orange branded phone but has been unlocked.

I assume that firstly I need to make a Gold card following these instructions, http://android.modaco.com/content/general-...ing-a-goldcard/

Then it needs to be rooted right, using this will be fine I assume http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...o-1-21-support/

Then flash the rom/

Is this correct links and order.

Your help is much appreciated.

You shouldn't need to goldcard and go through all those steps - you can now use a 1-click root called Unrevoked.

Well that looks like a fantstic and think I will use that method tonight, out of curiosity though was the first way I asked to correct manner in doing things though?

Yes that should have worked if you followed the steps.

Good luck with the rooting, I used the unrevoked method and it work for me the first time, took less than 5 min on Linux.

I used Unrevoked under Windows 7 64b without any problems. Took 15 minutes.....11,5 minutes took me to get that damn drivers work under Win. How typical....

Thanks heaps. I was gonna do the gold card thing too. This looks a lot easier :)
